Fairphone 6+ goes official with a faster chipset and more RAM!

Fairphone has introduced the Fairphone 6+, bringing a performance-focused refresh to its sustainability-driven smartphone lineup. The new model keeps the company’s modular and repair-friendly approach but upgrades the internals and adds a new color option. It also retains the features that made the previous model distinctive, including a removable battery, long-term software support, and user-replaceable parts. Here’s everything about the Fairphone 6+, including its specifications, expected price in Nepal, and availability.

Core Philosophy and Sustainability

The Fairphone 6+ continues the brand’s focus on making smartphones that are easier to repair and keep for longer. It comes with a five-year warranty and up to 12 replaceable parts, which users can swap themselves with a Torx T5 screwdriver. Fairphone also promises software support through 2033, while the phone carries an Energy Label A rating. The company says its design uses responsibly sourced and recycled materials as part of its wider sustainability efforts.

Build and Durability

The Fairphone 6+ keeps the compact form factor of its predecessor, measuring 156.57 x 73.28 x 9.6mm and weighing 193 grams. It has a modular construction with a removable rear cover, making it possible to access and replace internal components without specialized repair equipment. The phone is also IP55-rated and has undergone military-standard drop testing. It comes in Cobalt Blue, Forest Green, and Horizon Black finishes. 

Display and Camera Setup

There’s a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1116 x 2484-pixel resolution and an adaptive 10–120Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches up to 1,400 nits of brightness and supports HDR10, while Gorilla Glass 7i protects the screen. It also features a 240Hz touch sampling rate and an always-on display. 

For photography, the phone has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization alongside a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view. On the front, there’s a 32MP autofocus selfie camera. The main and front cameras support 4K video recording.

Performance and Software

On the performance front, the Fairphone 6+ gets a notable upgrade. The Fairphone 6+ is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The storage can also be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card. 

The phone runs Android 16 and is promised software support through 2033. Fairphone says it will receive six Android version upgrades along with an additional year of security updates. The phone also retains the Fairphone Moments feature, which can limit distractions by switching to a simplified interface and restricting access to selected apps. 

The 4,415mAh removable battery remains unchanged, with support for 30W wired charging. Fairphone claims up to two days of battery life, while the battery can be replaced by the user when it eventually degrades. 

Extra Features and Add-Ons

You can attach accessories such as a card holder, finger loop, and lanyard to the back of the Fairphone 6+ using its modular accessory system. The phone also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and dual-SIM connectivity through one nano-SIM and one eSIM. A fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button, while the phone also supports face unlock.

Fairphone 6+ Price in Nepal and Availability

The Fairphone 6+ is now official in the US with the standard Android version available in a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. However, there is no official word on its availability in Nepal yet. If it makes its way to Nepal, we expect it to arrive in local stores shortly after.
