Fasto, as the name implies, is Nepal’s first quick commerce platform, which is set to launch officially soon. But since it is only in beta, we tested its capabilities, and our experience was definitely positive. So, without further ado, let's dive in this article where i will discuss everything about the upcoming "fasto", and its availability, features and so on.
Fasto Overview
So as i mentioned earlier, it is Nepal's first quick commerce platoform. And what do they mean by quick? Well, it promises delivery of products within 10 minutes (Oui! Oui!), but with one exception: this service is not exactly launching nationwide; it's starting in the Kathmandu Valley, at least for now, due to infrastructure constraints.
Spectre of Fasto
According to Fasto, it uses a “dark store” model located all around the Kathmandu Valley. There are 10 such dark stores, whereas the main warehouse spans 6,000 square feet and is filled with thousands of products from various brands. It also has nine smaller stores, ranging in size from 1,500 to 2,500 square feet, designed to speed up deliveries.
To find out if Fasto’s claim holds true, we decided to test their app ourselves. We placed an order for beer to see how fast and reliable the service really is.
Our Experience
Unlike other delivery platforms like Foodmandu, Fasto does not call to confirm orders. Their goal is to deliver within 10 minutes, so they simply send the order right away.
Here are the delivery times we experienced:
- The first order arrived in 14 minutes
- A delivery to Pulchowk took just under 16 minutes
- An office delivery was completed in 6 minutes
Considering Kathmandu’s traffic and infrastructure challenges, these times are, needless to say, very impressive. And for what they have achieved during this demo phase, it is praiseworthy.
Opportunities for Delivery Riders
Fasto’s fast-paced delivery model also benefits delivery riders. As more people look for extra income, this platform offers frequent orders and quicker turnaround times. With its official launch approaching, Fasto is definitely set to change how Kathmandu shops and receives deliveries, raising the bar for quick commerce in Nepal. But to what extent, if this business model shall be a functioning one, is left in the air.
