Just a few months ahead of the biggest sporting event in the world, the World Cup 2026, FIFA has announced the launch of a new football game, which will be Netflix-exclusive. Yes, you heard it: Netflix, the online streaming platform for web series. Although it may not be a surprise, games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are now playable on Netflix and mobile.

That said, Delpi Interactive is developing the game. For context, they have not yet released a game. However, they are working on the upcoming game 007 First Light in partnership with IO Interactive. But other than that, nothing about them can be found. Their website is also a single page with a few paragraphs about them and nothing else. For this reason, many football fans are concerned about the game, as it may not meet their expectations.
FIFA X Netflix Games
The game is described as a newly reimagined football simulation with an easy-to-learn, easy-to-join format. You can play the game solo or with your friends online. However, to play the game, users need to have a Netflix subscription. The studio founder said they want to create the most engaging global football simulator.
The game can also be played on TVs using a phone as a controller.

Why This Is Big for Netflix?
Just 2 years ago, EA and FIFA parted ways, and since then, EA Sports FIFA has been renamed to EA FC. Even after the rename, EA FC 24 became the best-selling game in the UK. Not to mention, the FIFA series is estimated to have more than 150 million players.
For Netflix, this is a huge opportunity. With the FIFA brand, Netflix gains access to the world’s most recognised name in sports, particularly among fans who are unaware of the split. Football fans who just want to play the game will have to get a Netflix subscription. Additionally, with the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching, global interest in football is surging, making now the perfect time to release the game.

Till now, they have only announced that the game is coming. Additional details on gameplay, mechanics, and other aspects will follow as we enter 2026. Nevertheless, this is a significant announcement just ahead of a paramount event. FIFA President Gianni Infantino even states that this marks the beginning of a new era of digital football.
