FUJIFILM X-M5 Debuts with Compact Body and 6.2K Recording

FUJIFILM has launched the X-M5, a compact mirrorless camera in its X-series. It shares the same sensor as the X100V, bringing notable video and autofocus updates.

Sensor and Processor

The FUJIFILM X-M5 features a 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans 4 CMOS sensor and the X-Processor 5. In addition, it uses a randomized pixel layout and a sensor size over 16 times larger than the average smartphone.

Video and Audio

The camera supports 6.2K open-gate recording at up to 29.97 fps. It also records 4K at 60 fps and Full HD at up to 240 fps. Additionally, it includes three built-in microphones, a 3.5mm mic jack, voice enhancement, and noise reduction.

Video Modes

The X-M5 includes dedicated modes like Background Defocus, Product Priority, and Portrait Enhancer. Furthermore, it allows vertical video capture in 9:16 format with 15s, 30s, and 60s options. A red border appears on screen while recording.

Autofocus and Color Tools

It uses AI-based autofocus with eye and subject detection. In addition, the camera supports two Log profiles for post-processing. Users can choose from 20 film simulations, with 8 of them directly accessible via the top dial.

Build and Design

The device has a retro-style silver finish and weighs 12.5 oz. It comes with an articulating 3-inch LCD touchscreen. It supports interchangeable FUJIFILM X-series lenses and offers over 35 options. Ports are placed on the side and rear for convenience during video shooting.
