Samsung officially teases Galaxy Z Fold8 series with a wider design ahead of launch!

Samsung has officially started teasing its next-generation book-style foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, ahead of their expected launch later this month. While Samsung is slowly revealing the new design through its teaser campaign, a fresh leak has now surfaced online, revealing the rumored specifications of both devices. In this article, I'll discuss everything we know so far about the Galaxy Z Fold8 series, including its rumored specifications, launch, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Galaxy Z Fold8 series Overview (Rumors)

Samsung hints at a wider design

Rather than showcasing the phone directly, Samsung's teaser videos use everyday objects such as pizza slices, chocolate bars, books, and puzzle pieces that gradually transform into a wider rectangular shape. The campaign revolves around the tagline “New Shape, New Joy”, clearly suggesting that the Galaxy Z Fold8 will feature a redesigned aspect ratio.

According to the latest leak, the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 will adopt a wider cover display, making it more comfortable for one-handed use, typing, browsing, and media consumption. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to continue as Samsung's premium book-style foldable with upgraded cameras and a larger outer display.

Deisgn and Display

Although Samsung hasn't officially confirmed the specifications, leaked information suggests the Galaxy Z Fold8 will feature a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X folding display with a 2448 × 1848 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio, alongside a 5.5-inch cover display with 1248 × 1972 resolution. Both displays are expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate. 

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is tipped to feature a 7.8-inch folding AMOLED display with 2256 × 2504 resolution, while the cover display is expected to measure 6.5 inches with a 1080 × 2520 resolution. Both panels are also expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate. 

Another notable upgrade is Samsung's rumored titanium display substrate, which could significantly reduce the visibility of the display crease while improving durability. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is said to measure 4.5mm when unfolded and weigh 201g, whereas the Fold8 Ultra could be even slimmer at 4.1mm while weighing 218g. Both devices are also expected to carry an IP48 dust and water resistance rating.

Performance and Software

According to recent leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold8 series is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. The custom “for Galaxy” version is likely to feature a higher clock speed than the standard variant—continuing Samsung's strategy of offering optimized performance for its flagship devices.

In addition, Samsung is expected to offer 12GB LPDDR5X RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage variants, while the 1TB model could feature 16GB RAM on both devices. On the software side, the Galaxy Z Fold8 series is expected to boot Android 17 with One UI 9, bringing improved multitasking, Galaxy AI features, split-screen enhancements, and better continuity between the cover and folding displays.

Battery and Camera

In terms of battery capacity, the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 is rumored to pack a 4,800mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra could feature a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery. Both devices are expected to support 45W wired fast charging as well as wireless charging. Samsung is also said to have improved the battery's longevity, with the battery retaining at least 80% of its original capacity even after 1,200 charging cycles.

As for the optics, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to feature a 50MP primary camera paired with a 50MP ultrawide sensor, along with dual 10MP selfie cameras on the cover and inner displays. 

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is rumored to offer a more capable triple-camera setup comprising a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The Ultra is also expected to retain dual 10MP selfie cameras, making it the more photography-focused option in Samsung's upcoming foldable lineup.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Price in Nepal and Availability

Samsung has yet to officially announce the pricing of the Galaxy Z Fold8 series. However, recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold8 could start at EUR 1,999 for the base 256GB variant, while the more premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is expected to start at EUR 2,199. If this launches here, we expect the price of Galaxy Z Fold8 to start at NPR 352,999 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra at NPR 387,999.
