Google confirms Pixel 10a pre-orders, launch now imminent

Google has confirmed that the Pixel 10a, the next phone in its “Pixel a” series, will be available for pre-order globally after two weeks. According to the American giant, early subscribers to the Google Store who sign up by February 13th, 1:29 PM IST will get an email about a special offer that can be applied to their Pixel 10a purchase. Design and Display

Teasers and leaks suggest the Pixel 10a keeps a familiar design, without the camera bump and with a metal frame. Images shared by @evleaks now shows large bezels around the display, which looks very similar to the Pixel 9a. Until now, the phone has been confirmed to come in a blue colour option. On the display side, the Pixel 10a will come in a compact size of 6.2-inch OLED display that supports FHD+ (1080 × 2424 pixels) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR brightness up to 2000 nits, which is also slightly higher than the Pixel 9a’s 1800 nits.

Performance and Software

Performance has always been the weakest spot for Google Pixel phones. In that same vein, the Pixel 10a is expected to continue using the Tensor G4 processor paired with the Titan M2 security chip. Launched in 2024, it was featured in the Google Pixel 9 series, and the performance, especially on the gaming segment were very disappointing. Anyway, it’s rumoured to include 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB / 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone will run Android 16 and reportedly support 7 years of OS, security, and Feature Drop updates. Dual SIM support, including nano + eSIM, will also be included.

Camera and Battery

Camera specs are said to include a 48MP main rear sensor with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide lens, capable of 4K 60fps video recording. The front camera is 13MP, with up to 4K 30fps video. Other than that, the phone is IP68 water and dust resistant and packs a 5100mAh battery with wired fast charging and wireless charging support.

It is expected to support Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, GPS systems, and NFC. Other features include stereo speakers, dual microphones, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
