Huawei has also jumped into the AI companion space with their latest Smart Hanhan. As the title goes, it's an emotional-support pet that's supposed to "feel" more like a friend than a toy. The Chinese company introduced it at the recent Mate 80 series event, where all three color variants sold out pretty quick on Huawei Mall. Now, let's jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest Huawei Smart Hanhan, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

      Huawei Smart Hanhan Overview

      Design

Smart Hanhan's a compact plush companion and it measured 80 × 68 × 82 mm while weighing around just 140 grams (without the limbs). Huawei's gone with a mix of soft plush fabric, silicone, and plastic for its design. And this whole design is built around establishing some kind of “emotional connection” rather than being a smart speaker with a face. It's small enough to carry around or keep on your desk, and the materials make it feel more like a stuffed animal than a literal robot.

      What's the AI feature?

Smart Hanhan runs on Huawei's Xiaoyi large-model AI, which supports natural, emotion-aware conversations. The AI's designed to detect tone changes, emotional cues, and context, so it's not just responding to keywords like most voice assistants.

Huawei's idea is to make conversations feel personal and emotionally intelligent. Whether that actually works in practice or if it's even desirable is something entirely up to you, and you'd have to test yourself, but Huawei's clearly positioning this as more than just a Tamagotchi with voice commands.

      Interaction

Smart Hanhan responds to three types of input: voice, touch, and movement. You can talk to it like any voice assistant, but tapping or stroking its head changes its facial expressions. Giving it a gentle shake causes the thing to tremble with excitement, which is... kind of adorable, honestly.

      Battery Life

The companion packs an 1800 mAh battery, which gives you 6–8 hours of continuous interaction. If you're using it more casually throughout the day, Huawei claims it'll last over 48 hours on a single charge. Similarly, recharging takes around six hours, though, which is pretty slow. You'll want to charge it overnight.

      HarmonyOS Integration

Smart Hanhan only works with smartphones running HarmonyOS 5.0 or newer. That includes the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7, and Mate 80 RS. So if you're not in Huawei's ecosystem, this thing won't connect to your phone.

The phone integration also adds a diary system that logs emotional exchanges and daily interactions as memory entries. The companion also comes with a 3-month SVIP membership that unlocks unlimited conversation energy points, and without it, you'd presumably hit some kind of usage limit.

Huawei Smart Hanhan Price in Nepal and Availability

Smart Hanhan launched in China at CNY 399.  As for Nepal, I highly doubt that if it will ever make it here. But anyway, if it did, expect it to cost no less NPR 9999.
