iQOO 15R Launched in India with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 7600mAh Battery

After making a notable impact with its flagship, iQOO has launched its younger sibling, the iQOO 15R, in India as part of the series. This device, like iQOO, brings some flagship-level hardware at an aggressive price. Let’s dive into this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest iQOO 15R, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

      iQOO 15R Overview

      Display and Design

      undefined

Previously, it was suggested that the IQOO 15R was essentially a Z11 Turbo rebranded, but it turns out, its only partially correct. However, the display is essentially the same the chinese variant. You are getting the same 6.59-inch flat OLED display with a 2750 × 1260 resolution and a 19.64:9 aspect ratio. Similarly, it supports a 144Hz refresh rate and reaches up to 5000 nits peak brightness, while dropping as low as 1 nit at minimum. The panel supports HDR10+ and 1 billion colors, along with 4320Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and both DC dimming and full-brightness DC-like dimming modes. Moreover, the touch response is also very high, with 3200Hz instantaneous sampling and 300Hz ten-finger sampling. Other than that the screen is protected by Schott Shield glass.

On the design side, it's identical to the Z11 Turbo. However, the 15R comes in two finishes, whereas the former had more color options. Dark Knight comes in matte black, while Triumph Silver has a white patterned back and is exclusive to India. The Dark Knight variant is 7.9mm thick and weighs 202g, while Triumph Silver measures 157.61 × 74.42 × 8.1 mm and weighs 206g. The phone is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.

      Performance and Software

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which was also present in the standard iQOO 15, built on a 3nm process. It uses an Adreno 840 GPU and was co-optimized with Qualcomm. iQOO claims AnTuTu 11 scores exceeding 3.5 million. Similarly, there’s also a dedicated Q2 gaming chip that enables 1.5K gaming quality and 144 FPS gaming simultaneously. On the software side, the phone runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6. iQOO is promising 4 Android version updates and 6 years of security updates.

The phone uses LPDDR5X Ultra RAM with speeds up to 9600 Mbps. RAM options include 12GB and 16GB configurations. Storage is UFS 4.1 and comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants. Moreover, if you game, then thermals are also provided, which is handled by a 6500mm IceCore VC cooling system, combined with a dual-layer graphite sheet and a 14,000 mm² heat dissipation area.  There’s also a network enhancement chip that claims 5% stronger cellular signals and up to 12% better reception in elevators.

      Cameras

      undefined

One of the major deviations from the Z11 Turbo is in the camera sections. Unlike the 200MP camera you get in the Chinese model, here you get a rear camera setup that includes a 50MP main sensor using the 1/1.56-inch Sony LYT-700V with an f/1.88 aperture and OIS. It’s paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Similarly, video recording also goes up to 4K at 60fps. And on the front, you get a 32MP camera with an f/2.45 aperture and support for 4K 60fps video. The camera features include NICE algorithms, large-scale image quality enhancement tech, Live Photos, and AI visual effects. The company also claims a cinematic shooting experience.

      Battery and Charging

The iQOO 15R packs a much larger battery than its older sibling at 7600mAh battery. It uses a 4th-generation silicon anode and a 2nd-generation semi-solid-state battery design. Similarly, charging is also handled by 100W FlashCharge, which can reach 50% in around 33 minutes. It also supports PD charging.

      Connectivity and Hardware

The phone includes an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, an infrared sensor, and USB Type-C audio. It supports dual nano-SIM slots. And finally, you get the standard wireless connectivity that includes Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth 6.0.
