A solid ultrabook lineup worth checking out!

Lenovo has finally brought the ThinkPad E14 G7 to Nepal with three different processor configurations. In essence, this is a refresh of last year’s G6 models, with improvements mostly focused on the processors. Anyway, let’s dive into this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest ThinkPad E14 G7, including its price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.
Lenovo ThinkPad E14 G7 Overview
Display and Design

The ThinkPad E14 G7 keeps the classic ThinkPad look with its black aluminum chassis that measures 313 x 219.3 x 17.99 mm and weighs just 1.34 kg. The 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS display uses a 16:10 aspect ratio. You get 300 nits brightness with an anti-glare coating and 45% NTSC color coverage. The display runs at a 60Hz refresh rate with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. So overall, there’s almost no change in display at all.
Build quality is what you'd expect from a ThinkPad. It's MIL-STD-810H certified, which means it can handle drops, dust, and temperature changes. The backlit keyboard has decent key travel and includes a dedicated Copilot key for Windows 11's AI features. There's a fingerprint reader built into the power button and an IR camera for Windows Hello on some models. The webcam also has a physical privacy shutter.
Performance and Configurations
Lenovo is offering three processor options for the E14 G7 in Nepal. The entry-level model uses the Intel Core 5 210H with 8 cores (4 P-cores and 4 E-cores), 12 threads, running at 2.2 GHz base and boosting up to 4.8 GHz on the P-cores. It comes with 8GB DDR5-5600 RAM and a large 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, plus Windows 11 Pro.
The mid-range variant switches to the Core Ultra 5 225U, which is a lower-power chip with 12 cores (2 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 2 LP E-cores) totaling 14 threads. Base clocks start at 1.5 GHz for P-cores and boost up to 4.8 GHz. This one has 16GB DDR5 RAM and 512GB storage, but ships with Free DOS instead of Windows. The 225U also includes Intel's AI Boost NPU capable of 12 TOPS for AI workloads.
The top-end model packs the Core Ultra 7 255H with 16 cores (6 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 2 LP E-cores). P-cores boost up to 5.1 GHz while E-cores hit 4.4 GHz. You get 16GB DDR5 RAM, 512GB SSD, and Free DOS. The 255H version uses Intel Arc 140T integrated graphics instead of basic Intel Graphics, and the NPU delivers 13 TOPS. It also comes in Graphite Black instead of plain Black.
All three use DDR5-5600 RAM but the base 210H model runs single-channel memory while the other two support dual-channel configuration. Storage is expandable with two M.2 slots, though one uses the smaller 2242 form factor.

Connectivity and Ports
The port selection is identical across all variants. You get one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A with Always On charging, and a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port that supports Power Delivery 3.1 and DisplayPort 2.1. There's also HDMI 2.1 for 4K at 60Hz output, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, and a full-size RJ45 Ethernet port.
Similarly, wireless connectivity on all three devices includes Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) dual-band and Bluetooth 5.3. The Ethernet port supports Gigabit speeds and Wake-on-LAN for remote management. For security features, you get the typical TPM 2.0 chip and a Kensington Nano Security Slot.
Audio and Battery
Audio comes from dual 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, tuned by HARMAN. There's also a dual-microphone array with 360-degree far-field pickup and smart noise cancellation for video calls. For battery, you are provided with a 48Wh battery that supports Rapid Charge Pro, which gets you up to 50% charge in 30 minutes using the included 65W USB-C adapter that also supports USB PD 3.0.

Should you buy Lenovo ThinkPad E14 G7 in Nepal?
The ThinkPad E14 G7 is a good laptop with good build quality and good keyboard. The three-year warranty is better than most competitors offering just one year. The display is also decent but nothing special, and probably its weakest part considering it only provides 45% NTSC coverage and 300 nits brightness.
Performance depends on which model you pick. The Core 5 210H with 8GB single-channel RAM will struggle with heavy multitasking. The Core Ultra 5 225U is a low-power chip, so it's good for battery life. The Core Ultra 7 255H is the best performer here with its 16 cores and Arc graphics.
The pricing is a bit steep across the board. At NPR 1,72,900, the Core 5 210H feels overpriced even with Windows 11 Pro and 1TB storage. The 8GB single-channel RAM is a bottleneck for this price. The Core Ultra 5 225U for its price is perhaps the most sensible choice if you're okay installing Windows yourself, but you're still paying a lot for a low-power processor and 512GB storage. The Core Ultra 7 255H variant is hard to justify when you can get laptops with dedicated graphics and OLED displays in this range.
If you specifically need ThinkPad's keyboard, build quality, and business features like the three-year warranty, then the Core Ultra 5 225U model offers the best value among the three. But if you're not tied to the ThinkPad brand, there are better options from ASUS and HP in this price range with more RAM, better displays, and stronger performance.
