Recently, the CMF Phone 1 by Nothing reached 100,000 sales in just 3 hours. This success boosted the Nothing brand’s market value and user expectations all along. Now, the company has introduced a new mid-range model named Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. This article will discuss the phone, including rumours, leaks, and the launch date.

Nothing Phone (2a) Plus: Overview

Plus. More. Extra

Earlier this year Nothing released its Phone (2a) which was most of what Nothing Phone (2) offered but at a lower price. Now, Nothing is all set to launch a new product – Phone (2a) Plus which has been described as “Plus. More. Extra.” It’s quite obvious it’s an upgrade to Nothing Phone (2a), but in what way? Will it outperform the Phone 2a in terms of sheer value? Well, we’ll see.

The company hasn’t made a huge announcement about the Phone 2a Plus yet. But, they have vaguely hinted with “An extraordinary new smartphone is coming” just below the product name with a launch date of 31st July.
Akis Evangelidis, the co-founder of Nothing, tweeted that this phone is the beefed-up version for savvy users who demand more processing power.

While the company has yet to reveal any official images of the device, leaked photos of the Plus version have surfaced online.

Design and Camera

Talking about the design, the leaked images suggest the dual-camera setup, which is consistent with Nothing’s previous phone designs. The visibility of internal components could suggest continued use of the “Glyph Interface” LED notification system. So, nothing’s new about the new Nothing’s design.

The company has announced that the Phone (2a) Plus will come with three 50MP cameras: one on the front and two on the back.

MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro

Initially, based on some sources, we were expecting that the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus would be sporting the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro processor found in the current model. However, the clouds have now been cleared! Nothing has dropped the info on the silicon it will be rocking — the world-exclusive MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro!

MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro

This processor will have a higher peak frequency of 3.0GHz making it a 10% faster than the Nothing Phone (2a). Furthermore, it will have the Mali-G610 MC4 GPU that can run up to 1.3GHz making it 30% speedier in handling graphics. And about this chip being world-exclusive, it’s probably taking the 7200 Pro route. This means that Nothing will be rocking the Pro chipset, while the rest of the world will get a base model of it.

What else?

In the same announcement post, we could also see the render for the memory on the phone. Which is up to 12gigs of physical RAM, and an additional 8GB virtual memory. This results in a combined memory of 20GB, which is absolutely massive. While the company is presenting the phone as a specimen for gamers, we think all memory will be utilised in some AI activities too!

Other than that, we can say that the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus might feature a similar 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display to its predecessor.

Slightly different looking

Evangelidis replying to one of the comments in his tweet said the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus will have a design change in colour, material, and finish level. However, the leaked images do not show any noticeable difference except for the colours.

What to expect from the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus?

The Plus version is likely going to a minimal upgrade from the Phone (2a) which might not seem like the most interesting of things. But, the co-founder’s tweet suggests that the Plus version will feature improved processing power and hardware design. Those few changes might just make it appealing enough for the right guy so let’s not judge too early.
