Nubia Z70S Ultra Photographer Edition unveiled in China with a Photography Kit!

Nubia has announced its flagship in China with the Z70S Ultra ‘Photographer Edition’. It brings an impressive 35mm equivalent main camera alongside impressive specs all around like the latest and greatest Snadragon X Elite and a blazing fast 144Hz OLED screen. Let’s dive a bit deeper into the Nubia Z70S Ultra including its specs, and expected price in Nepal.

Cameras and Photography Kit

The primary highlight of this Nubia smartphone is its set of cameras, for sure. It is headed by a custom OmniVision 50 Megapixel ‘Light and Shadow Master 990’ sensor with a 35mm equivalent focal length. Interestingly, it uses horizontal/vertical four-phase technology (4PAF), which, unlike normal PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus), can focus faster and more accurately in tricky conditions like low light. Besides that, you get a large ½ “ 64 megapixel periscope lens and a 50MP ultrawide with macro. And, there’s a physical shutter button to give it that authentic camera feel, allowing a half press to focus and a full press to shoot.

The brand also offers a ‘Photography Kit’ that consists of a leather case (supports T mount adapter) and an adapter ring for ND filters and polarizers. You can even mount it on a tripod adapter directly (¼ thread interface) for shooting steadily. Furthermore, Nubia also showcased a lens set that can be mounted on the main 35mm lens, made in collaboration with Fotogear. The T mount lenses in the set include: a fisheye lens, a macro lens, a 139mm telephoto, and a 400mm super telephoto.

Design and Display 

Moving on to the design side of things, the Nubia Z70S Ultra has a unique charm to it. It’s your run-of-the-mill blocky smartphone, but the large camera and the rectangular island give it a modern yet vintage look. The phone is IP68 + IP69 rated against dust and water and features an all-screen design with an under-display selfie camera.

The display is equally as impressive with its large 6.85-inch screen estate, 144 Hz refresh rate, and a screen-to-body ratio of 95.3%. The OLED panel is manufactured by BOE and has a peak brightness of up to 2000 nits, 2592Hz high frequency PWM dimming, and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i.

Performance and Memory 

The phone is running with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, fabbed on a 3nm process. It’s got two prime Phoenix L cores running at up to 4.32 GHz, followed by six Phoenix M cores at up to 3.53 GHz. On the GPU side, there’s the Adreno 830. In terms of memory, you get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM on the base variant, with the top-end spec housing a whopping 24 GB. There’s no expandable storage, but options range from 256GB to 1TB of UFS 4.0 flash memory. Nubia Z70S Ultra is running on Android 15 with Nebula AIOS on top. 

Battery Life and Extras

Given the big dimensions, you might be expecting a big battery, and that’s exactly what Nubia has delivered here. The 6600 mAh cell is a Silicon Carbide battery that’s been the trend among Chinese smartphones for the last year or so. With it, you get up to 80W of fast charging to top it off when you run out.

The smartphone has WiFi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.4, 5-point GNSS systems, and an infrared sensor, but there’s no headphone jack.
