Oppo A6s 5G is here with Dimensity 6300 SoC and 120Hz LCD panel

Oppo has launched its new Oppo A6s 5G in India, featuring the Dimensity 6300 and a 120Hz LCD screen, which is a rebranding of the global Oppo A6x. Design and Display 

Oppo A6s 5G moves away from the ultra-slim 186g profile of the earlier global Oppo A60x, opting instead for a more substantial 216g build that feels dense and durable in the hand. Although the plastic frame and back align with its mid-range origins, the added weight and 8.6mm thickness give a feel of sturdiness that some users might find comforting. It comes with an IP68/IP69 rating, offering a practical level of protection against dust and water.

It sports a 6.75-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution. The jump to a 120Hz refresh rate from the older 90Hz panel provides a smoother scrolling experience. While LCD displays are not known to be super vibrant like AMOLED ones, and their pixel density is around 256ppi, which also states the same. Further, the 1,124-nit peak brightness on this phone should provide sufficient visibility for indoor and outdoor use.

Performance

Oppo's transition to the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 (6nm) chipset marks a notable change from the Snapdragon 680 (4G) found in the global Oppo A60. UI navigation on this phone is handled by two 2.4 GHz Cortex-A76 performance cores, which should make app switching smoother. You also get 4/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with a microSDXC slot.

Camera and Battery

The main camera here is a 50MP primary sensor that should click decent enough pictures. It technically features a dual-lens setup, with a 2MP monochrome sensor to assist with background blur in portrait mode. On the front, you have a 16MP selfie camera for selfies and video. One of the interesting aspects about this phone is that it allows dual-view video recording and underwater photography, thanks to its IP68/69 rating.
