Oppo Enco Air5 and Air5s arrive with ANC, spatial audio, and all-day battery life

Oppo brings two new models, the Oppo Enco Air5 and Oppo Enco Air5s, to market alongside its Oppo Reno 16 lineup. While both earbuds share a similar design philosophy and 12mm dynamic drive, they slightly target different users. Here Enco Air5s focuses more on the premium listening experience with stronger ANC, long battery life, and the latest Bluetooth connectivity. Meanwhile, Enco Air5 aims to offer a lightweight, comfortable design with adaptive noise cancellation at an accessible price point. In this article, I will discuss the Oppo Enco Air TWS lineup in detail, including their expected price in Nepal, specifications, and availability. 

Oppo Enco Air5s and Air5 Overview

Design and Comfort

At first glance, both look similar in design, with a clean, minimal aesthetic—but on closer inspection, they differ in their wearing style. The only common aspect both TWS share is their IP55 rating against dust and water, so you can use them comfortably during workouts, jogging, and even in light rain.

Starting with design, the Oppo Enco Air5s features a semi-in-ear ergonomic design and weighs just 3.9 grams per bud, making it one of the lightest options in Oppo's lineup. During long listening sessions, you should not experience ear fatigue with these earbuds, and you can comfortably use them for office work, online classes, and casual music listening. 

On the other hand, the Oppo Enco Air5 features a more traditional in-ear design with silicone ear tips where each bud weighs around 4.3 grams, making them slightly heavier than the Enco Air5s. However, you get the better passive noise isolation in Air5 due to its design, even before ANC kicks in. If you are a traveler or live in a crowded/noisy environment, Air5 could be a better fit if you are looking for better sound isolation from surrounding noise.   

Audio and Call Quality

For audio, both earbuds feature 12mm dynamic drivers that produce balanced sound suitable for everyday music streaming, podcasts, movies, and gaming. However, the Enco Air5 slightly delivers richer bass and better sound isolation thanks to its ear fit, while the Enco Air5s produce a more open and natural sound. 

Moving on, both Enco Air5s and Air5 come with the same triple microphone setup with AI call noise reduction, so that you can comfortably have a conversation even when you are in noisy surroundings. They also support low-latency gaming mode, reducing audio delay while gaming or streaming videos. 

ANC and App compatibility

Overall, expect ANC to be something where you will notice a noticeable change in these earbuds. Here, the Enco Air5 supports up to 52dB ANC, which makes it the better choice for blocking out traffic, office noise, or airplane cabin sounds. It also has adaptive ANC and transparency mode for a more flexible listening experience. 

Meanwhile, the Enco Air5s come with adaptive ANC, but its semi-in-ear design naturally limits how much outside noise it can block. Instead, it focuses on reducing background noise while maintaining a comfortable open fit. 

Talking about the app compatibility, both earbuds work with the HeyMelody App, where you can customize touch controls, adjust EQ settings, update firmware, and manage ANC modes. Also, Oppo smartphone users can also access many of these features directly through ColorOS.

Battery, charging, and others

In terms of battery life, both earbuds have similar designs that offer long playtime. The Enco Air5 offers up to 54 hours of total playback with the charging case, while Enco Air5s provides up to 48 hours. Here, both earbuds support fast charging and offer up to 11 hours of playback after a quick 10-minute charge.

Other than that, Enco Air 5 has slightly better Bluetooth V6.1 compared to Enco Air5s' Bluetooth V6.0, while both support the AAC and SBC codecs.

In Singapore, the Oppo Enco Air5 is priced at SGD 110 (~$85, INR 8,030), and the Oppo Enco Air5s is priced at SGD 120 (~$93, INR 8,785). If this launches here, we expect Oppo Enco Air5 and Air5s prices in Nepal to be NPR 18,999 and NPR 20,999, respectively.
