Does it have what it takes to compete in the premium mid-range segment?

Oppo has expanded its Reno 16 series with the new Oppo Reno 16F—a direct successor to last year's Oppo Reno 15F 5G. It is a premium mid-range smartphone that focuses on offering a balanced experience rather than chasing flagship specifications. This phone comes with a bright AMOLED display, a large battery, a decent processor, and several AI-powered software features that I will address in a minute. But for now, I will discuss this phone in detail, including the expected Oppo Reno 16F price in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

- Oppo Reno 16F features a 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400 nits peak brightness.

Oppo Reno 16F Overview
Design and Display
Starting off, the new Oppo Reno 16F arrives with a clean design, featuring a squarish camera island on the back that houses three lenses and an LED flash. This phone has a thickness of around 8.58mm for the Pop white finish, while “Twilight Violet” and “Dream Purple” have a thickness of 8.44mm. And it might also feel a bit heavier, weighing around 195-197 grams due to that massive battery.

Additionally, Reno 16F also has IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance, offering better protection than most phones in this price segment. It also has the Crystal Guard glass on the front for added durability.
On the front, the phone has a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution that should deliver decent visuals. You should also not face any issue while scrolling social media or playing games—all thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the Reno 16F's screen reaches up to 1,400 nits in high-brightness mode, which should be enough to use this phone comfortably in harsh sunlight.

In addition, it supports 10-bit colors with 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, so you get vibrant visuals when watching content on this phone. Other than this, Reno 16F also has Splash Touch and Glove Touch support, allowing the screen to respond better even with a wet finger or while wearing gloves.
Camera and Battery
For optics, the Oppo Reno 16F comes with a triple-camera setup that includes a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 50MP f/2.8 telephoto lens, and an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor. Oppo also said that this telephoto lens supports up to 3.5x optical zoom and has OIS alongside the main sensor. With this camera setup, the photos in daylight and even in low light should be detailed and sharp.

For selfies, this phone offers a 50MP f/2.0 front camera with autofocus and a wide 100-degree field of view. Apart from this, you can capture 4K video at 30 fps from both the front and rear cameras, and the rear camera also has EIS and OIS for more stable footage.
In terms of battery life, the Reno 16F packs a large 7,000mAh silicone-carbon battery that supports 80W wired charging, 55W PPS, and reverse wired charging to quickly top up the battery. OPPO also said that you can reach 100% battery in 62 minutes, which will save you from long hours of waiting, even with a large capacity. If you are a casual user, Oppo said it can last more than a day—even under heavy use—and it still performs pretty well.

Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Oppo Reno 16F uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chip built on a 4nm process—leaving behind the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (4nm) chip we saw in the Reno 15F—so you get better thermal optimization and graphics in the new one. It also includes AI HyperBoost 3.0 in this phone to ensure stable frame rates, manage heat, and eliminate lag during gaming.

Moving on, Oppo also verified the gaming endurance of this phone in their lab and found that games like Mobile Legends and Bang Bang maintain 90 FPS for up to 5 hours, while other games like Free Fire maintain 60 FPS for a similar time in continuous gameplay in Pro gamer mode. Oppo is also offering the Game master Toolkit in this phone to improve your gameplay experaince.

Memory-wise, it comes with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. On the software front, Reno 16F runs ColorOS 16 on top of Android 16, with plenty of AI features for productivity, creativity, and utility in day-to-day use. After successful implementation in the Find X lineup, it also features an AI-powered Snap key on the side that can be customized to access specific functions and AI features without navigating the menu.
