OPPO K14 5G Price in Nepal

After releasing the K14x back in February, OPPO just added another K14 5G in its K lineup. It was launched in India and is positioned as a budget phone with some decent specs to its name. Let’s get into the details now!

      OPPO K14 5G Overview

      Design and Display

The K14 5G comes in Prism White, Prism Violet, and Icy Blue, all with a matte finish on the back and frame that keeps fingerprints off. At 8.61mm thick and 212g, it's on the heavier side, but that's expected with such a big cell inside. For the most part, especially in design, the phone isn’t particularly enticing, but they have indeed been overwhelmed with IP rating selections. The K14 5G carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings simultaneously, which cover dust tightness, submersion up to a metre for 30 minutes, and high-pressure water jets. In contrast, the K14x, OPPO's cheaper sibling that launched just before this, only managed IP64.

The phone has a decent size of 6.75-inch with HD+ LCD. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and up to 1,125 nits peak brightness. The phone is bright enough and works well in most cases, including outdoors, but this is still a familiar setup, which has been common for at least a year or two. Other than that, the display is functional and more than enough for most people.

      Performance

The Dimensity 6300, powered in this phone, is a 6nm chip from MediaTek, which is paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. On its own, the Dimensity 6300 handles daily tasks at ease, as it has been a common processor for many smartphones. Especially if you look at Samsung’s budget lineup, this has been their favourite. However, at that price, OPPO is not making a very good deal and is essentially asking you to overlook what else is available at this price right now.

For example, Vivo just launched the T5x 5G with the Dimensity 7400 Turbo at almost exactly the same price point. The Dimensity 7400 is a newer and faster chip, and the T5x also features a 7,200mAh battery.  The Realme C83 5G, which we covered recently, also uses the same Dimensity 6300 but comes in much cheaper price than the Oppo K14.

Anyway, you still get a 3,900mm² vapor chamber, despite the limation of its processor. It helps keep the Dimensity 6300 from throttling under extended load, even if the chip itself doesn’t push that hard.

      Camera

The rear camera setup is a 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture paired with a 2MP portrait sensor. The 2MP depth camera is essentially filler at this point, and it does very little that the software couldn't handle on its own. Like most budget smartphones, the video recording here also tops out at 1080p 60fps on the rear. Meanwhile, the front camera is 8MP with f/2.2.

Similarly, smartphone companies haven’t slowed down the AI train. OPPO has also bundled in bunch of AI-related features, that includes AI Recompose, AI Perfect Shot, AI Eraser 2.0, and AI Clarity Enhancer.

      Battery and Charging

The 7,000mAh battery is the most defensible thing about this phone, and OPPO has backed it up with actual usage claims: 18.9 hours of YouTube, 17.4 hours of Google Maps, and 13 hours of WhatsApp video calls. Whether those hold in real conditions depends on brightness and connectivity, but the raw capacity is hard to argue against. The 45W SuperVOOC charger is included in the box, which charges at a respectable rate for this battery size.

Compared to the K14x, which packs 6,500mAh, the K14 goes bigger on battery and meaningfully better on IP ratings, which is where most of the price difference justifies itself. The connectivity options are typical as they come; you get a standard suite of  Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with GLONASS, and so on. However, there is no NFC, and surprisingly, they didn't provide a 3.5mm headphone jack for a budget phone, which is disappointing.
