The M16 5G is almost a clone of the A16 5G. Same specs, same performance, same camera, same display. It’s like Samsung just gave the A16 a haircut and a new outfit and released it under a different name. But the kicker is that the M16 is actually cheaper. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version of the M16 costs 27,000 rupees, which is about 3,000 less than the A16. So if you’re all about getting value for your money, this one’s worth a serious look.
The only real difference between the two is that the A16 also comes in an 8GB RAM version. So if you’re a power user who keeps 20 apps running in the background or jumps between gaming, editing, and social media all day, that extra RAM might be useful. On top of that, the M16 has IP54 water and dust resistance, which is a nice bonus. It won’t survive a swim, but it can handle splashes, rain, or the occasional drop into a kitchen sink.

There might be occasional slowdowns if you push it hard, but overall, it feels smooth and reliable for regular use. You can even do some light gaming.
I tested PUBG, which runs at around 40 frames per second. It’s playable, just don’t expect a buttery smooth experience. Heavier games like Genshin Impact do struggle a bit, but casual games like Mobile Legends, Candy Crush, or Clash of Clans run just fine.

Battery life is pretty standard for Samsung these days. The M16 packs a 5000mAh battery, the same as the A16. It gave me about six and a half to seven hours of screen time, which means you can easily get through a full day on a single charge. When it comes to charging, it supports 25W fast charging, and if you’re using Samsung’s official charger, it takes roughly an hour and a half to fully top up. Not the fastest charging in the world, but not bad either.

But I think the best part is that Samsung is promising six years of software updates, which includes four major Android updates and two extra years of security patches. That’s something you rarely see in this price range. It means the phone will stay secure and usable for a long time. If you’re someone who holds onto a phone for four or five years, this is a huge plus.

I did notice that the M16 sometimes struggles a bit with dynamic range, especially when there’s a lot of light and shadow in the same frame, but it’s a small difference.

The last time we heard about Alcatel was back in 2019 when it launched the Alcatel 3. Now the company is back in business after a long hiatus with a bang. They have launched the new Alcatel V3 series in India that includes the Alcatel V3 Classic, V3 Pro, and V3 Ultra. Let’s discuss the Alcatel V3 series, including its specifications and expected price in Nepal.
Alcatel V3 Series Overview
Design and Display
The Alcatel V3 series offers a contemporary design with a mix of plastic and matte finishes depending on the model. All three devices sport large LCD screens with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth interaction and improved visual experience.
The Alcatel V3 Classic comes with a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS LCD, which is bright enough for outdoor use and responsive thanks to its high refresh rate. The V3 Pro and V3 Ultra, however, stand out with NXTPAPER display technology, which is a paper-like screen designed to reduce eye strain using a combination of blue light filtering and etched anti-glare coating.
The V3 Pro retains the 6.67-inch form factor, while the V3 Ultra goes slightly bigger with a 6.78-inch FHD+ panel and includes stylus support for users who prefer handwriting and sketching. These NXTPAPER displays also offer four dedicated viewing modes: Regular, Ink Paper, Max Ink, and Colour Paper, making them highly versatile for reading, sketching, and media consumption.
Performance and Battery
Powering the Alcatel V3 series is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, a mid-range processor that supports 5G connectivity and offers solid performance for everyday tasks. In terms of memory and storage, the V3 Classic is available with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, paired with 128GB of internal storage. The V3 Pro bumps the configuration up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the V3 Ultra offers a choice between 6GB and 8GB of RAM, both with 128GB storage.
The devices run Android 15 out of the box, making them among the first in the region to launch with Google’s latest mobile operating system. Alcatel promises up to three years of OS updates and four years of security patches for the entire series, which is a significant commitment for budget and mid-range devices.
Battery life is equally important in this lineup. The V3 Classic features a 5,200mAh battery with standard 10W charging. The V3 Pro and V3 Ultra are equipped with slightly smaller 5,010mAh batteries but benefit from faster 18W and 33W charging, respectively.
The Alcatel V3 Classic comes equipped with a 50MP primary camera paired with a QVGA depth sensor, and an 8MP front camera for selfies. The V3 Pro also features a 50MP main sensor but upgrades the secondary camera to a 5MP ultra-wide lens, offering more versatility in capturing landscape and group shots. The front camera remains the same as the Classic.
The top-tier V3 Ultra significantly enhances the photography experience with a 108MP main shooter, a 5MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. It also boasts a high-resolution 32MP front camera, ideal for selfies and video calls. Other notable features include IP54 water and dust resistance across all models, stereo speakers for better audio output, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The V3 Pro and Ultra also include side-mounted fingerprint scanners for enhanced security.
All three models support USB Type-C and ship with a charger and case included in the box. Additionally, the Ultra comes with dual speakers tuned with DTS X Sound and a stylus that integrates with the phone’s UI for note-taking and drawing. All devices offer nano-SIM and eSIM support, microSD card expansion, and NFC for contactless payments.

The Alcatel V3 series will be officially available in India starting June 2 via Flipkart. The V3 Classic is priced at ₹12,999 for the 4 GB+128 GB variant and ₹14,999 for the 6 GB+128 GB model. So when it makes its way here, we can expect the starting price of Alcatel V3 to start at NPR 20,800.
