The Poco X7 Pro is a powerhouse at a good price. It delivers solid performance, a sharp display, and good battery life. The design is sturdy, the cameras are decent, and while the software is a bit cluttered, it’s a solid value for anyone looking for performance without the premium price tag.

POCO’s recent comeback in the Nepali market is creating a lot of buzz, and the POCO X7 Pro is at the center of it. The hype around this device feels very similar to what we saw with Redmi phones a few years ago. Unlike Redmi phones recently, I believe POCO, its little brother, is on the right track again. They have priced it very well, and POCO phones are starting to generate that same excitement again. Let's learn everything in my POCO X7 Pro review.

      POCO X7 Pro Review:

      Performance

      • MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra

      POCO X7 Pro Performance

Let me start with the performance, because this is where the POCO X7 Pro truly shines. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset, a significant upgrade inboth CPU and GPU performance. In real-world usage, the phone feels extremely fast and responsive for everyday tasks, but the real story begins when you start gaming.

In Genshin Impact, I was able to get a stable 60fps on high settings with smooth frame pacing and very consistent performance. Even during longer sessions, stability remained impressive, with no major frame drops.

      POCO X7 Pro Gaming

When playing PUBG Mobile, the POCO X7 Pro averaged around 118 fps with excellent smoothness. The gameplay felt fluid and responsive, especially during intense gunfights and fast movements. Touch response and frame stability are clearly optimized for competitive gaming.

Thermals are also well controlled. The phone did get slightly warm during extended gaming sessions, but nothing uncomfortable. To really test its limits, I ran Antutu five consecutive times and recorded a 4K 60fps video under direct sunlight for 30 minutes. The maximum temperature I recorded was around 45 degrees Celsius, which is quite manageable considering the performance it delivers.

For gamers in Nepal who spend hours on PUBG, Genshin Impact, or other heavy titles, the POCO X7 Pro delivers stable high FPS performance with good thermal management. The flat design also makes it comfortable to hold during long sessions, and despite the large 6550mAh battery, it doesn’t feel overly bulky.

I also went to the extreme to see how hot the POCO X7 Pro would get: I ran Antutu 5 consecutive times, shot a 4 K 60fps video in the sun for 30 minutes, and the maximum temperature I recorded was 45 degrees. If you prioritize gaming and sustained performance over everything else, the POCO X7 Pro just blows away the competition.

      Battery

      • 6,550mAh with 90W fast charging

      POCO X7 Pro Performance

It’s a 6550mAh silicone-carbon battery, so it occupies less space while also offering great endurance. Despite the large capacity, the phone doesn’t feel overly bulky.

On heavy usage days that included gaming, social media scrolling, YouTube, and camera use, I was consistently getting around 8 hours of screen-on time. With lighter usage, it easily lasted me more than a full day.

I didn’t feel battery anxiety while gaming, which is important. Even after long PUBG sessions, I still had enough juice left for the rest of the day.

It supports 90W fast charging, and in my testing, it took roughly about an hour to fully charge from near empty. Considering the 6550mAh battery size, I think that’s quite reasonable.

Overall, I feel like the POCO X7 Pro doesn’t just deliver strong performance; it backs it up with battery life that can actually sustain that power.

      Design

The POCO X7 Pro comes with a boxy, flat design. You can choose between a leather-back finish or plastic back depending on the color variant. Personally, I feel POCO focuses more on function than flashy aesthetics. The leather finish feels nice in thehand, but if long-term cleanliness is your priority, the plastic variant might be the safer choice.

On durability, POCO has done a solid job. You get Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front and an IP69 rating for dust- and water-resistance, which adds confidence in daily use.

The flat design also makes it comfortable to hold, especially during long gaming sessions.

Besides that, you get a fast optical in-display fingerprint sensor and IR blasters, too, which can come in really handy, but for some reason, it doesn't have headphone jacks. But POCO should have included it; that would have made the gamer community so-so happy!

      Display

      • 6.67-inch OLED, 12-bit colors, HDR10+, Dolby Vision
      • 1.5K (2712 x 1220 pixels)
      • 120Hz refresh rate, 3200 nits brightness

Anyway, what POCO has nailed is the display side of things. The X7 Pro’s display is bright thanks to its 12-bit color depth. Even when playing HDR videos, POCO’s display looks brighter and better. Overall, for general tasks, it's a superb display.

      Haptics and Audio

Likewise, the phone comes with an X-axis vibration motor, and I found the haptics to be decent. Feedback feels tight enough for typing and gaming, though not flagship-level.

The dual stereo speakers are loud and clear. They’re good for watching videos and casual gaming without headphones.

      UI and Software

      • Android 15 with HyperOS 2

      UI

And that also relates highly to the software experience. Honestly, I have never been a big fan of MIUI or HyperOS. The POCO X7 Pro initially shipped with Android 15 and has now received the HyperOS 3 update with Android 16. The phone is promised 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates, which is decent for this segment.  Although Hyper OS 3.0 is somewhat more refined than before, I still prefer the cleaner, lighter skins like Oxygen OS or OneUI.

      Cameras

      • 50MP (Sony LYT-600, OIS) + 8MP ultrawide
      • 20MP (front camera)

Ok… best for the last – The cameras. And honestly, I didn’t have many expectations from POCO, since it’s not necessarily a camera-centric device, but the results were impressive.

      Daylight

As expected, POCO has sort of a punchy color reproduction; it seems to have worked on the green tint issue that was there on the POCO X6 Pro. Sometimes dynamic range could be a hit or miss, but most times, the output from the POCO X6 Pro is decent, not bad!

      Nighttime

In fact, the POCO X7 Pro does an impressive job at night. The punchy color reproduction works in its favor, and I have gotten some detailed images with good exposure management from this phone.

      Ultrawide

I don’t have the same praise for its ultra-wide photos, though. For some reason, the ultra-wide photos have a yellow tint that just looks bad. And since it’s an 8MP sensor, the details are nothing to write home about either.

      Portraits and Selfies

The POCO X7 Pro clicks decent portraits and selfies, though. Not the kind you would want to post on social media, but not that bad either. The portraits could pass for just a story or so on Instagram and such, but nothing more.

      Videos

This year, POCO has improved the videography side as well. I clearly did felt the jerkiness and wobble while walking, but, for still footage, the videos are actually good and sharp.

Video performance is good for still footage. I did notice some wobble while walking, but shooting in 4K 30fps improves stabilization. Front camera video is limited to 1080p 30fps and is average overall.

      POCO X7 Pro Review: Conclusion

At NPR 55,999, I think the POCO X7 Pro is one of the strongest performance-focused smartphones currently available in Nepal. If you prioritize gaming, battery life, display quality, and overall value, this phone makes a lot of sense. Meanwhile, if you want a more premium design experience with a dedicated 2X lens and the same processor, you can go for its cousin, the Xiaomi 15T (review), but that would cost you NPR 10,000 more. But it’s not trying to be flashy. It’s trying to be powerful. And in that mission, I think it succeeds, marking a strong comeback of POCO in Nepal.
