Mac Mini M4 Overview

Design

The new Mac mini models maintain Apple’s ultra-compact desktop design, measuring 12.7 cm on each side and standing 5 cm tall. The M4 version weighs 670 grams, while the M4 Pro version is slightly heavier at 730 grams. The overall look resembles the Mac Studio but with a smaller footprint, focusing on simplicity and portability.

Performance

Apple offers two chip configurations:

• M4 Chip: Includes a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU.
• M4 Pro Chip: Available in two configurations—a base option with a 12-core CPU and 16-core GPU, and a higher option with a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU for an additional $200.

For memory and storage, the M4 Pro models support up to 64GB of unified memory and offer storage options up to 8TB.

I/O and Connectivity

The front of each Mac mini model includes two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. On the back, users will find three Thunderbolt ports—Thunderbolt 4 on the M4 version and Thunderbolt 5 on the M4 Pro version—along with HDMI, one Gigabit Ethernet port (upgradable to 10Gb), and a power-in port. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, supporting fast and stable connections. Both models run on macOS Sequoia, incorporating the latest Apple Intelligence for better functionality.
