iPhone 18 Pro Overview
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the iPhone 18 Pro retains Apple’s flat-sided design but uses an aluminum unibody construction with a redesigned rear camera area. It measures 8.1mm thick and weighs 199 grams, with Ceramic Shield 2 protecting the front and Ceramic Shield covering the back. The phone also retains the Action button and Camera Control, while its IP68 rating provides protection against dust and water. It is available in Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy finishes.
On the front, it features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a 2622 × 1206 resolution and ProMotion technology, offering an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It supports Always-On display functionality and reaches up to 3,000 nits of outdoor peak brightness. The panel also supports HDR, True Tone, and a wide P3 color gamut for improved color reproduction.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built on a 2nm process and paired with a new vapor chamber for improved thermal management. The six-core CPU, seven-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engine are designed to handle demanding workloads, gaming, and on-device AI processing. Apple also claims up to 40% higher sustained performance compared with the previous-generation iPhone 17 Pro, helped by the larger cooling system.
On the software side, the iPhone 18 Pro runs iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI. The software brings deeper on-device AI capabilities, while the A20 Pro’s Neural Engine is designed to handle more demanding AI workloads locally. The phone also introduces Apple Reference Image, which can authenticate photos captured with the main camera by signing the image data at capture.
Camera and Battery
For photography, the iPhone 18 Pro features a triple 48MP rear camera system comprising a Fusion Main camera with a variable aperture, a Fusion Ultra Wide camera, and a Fusion Telephoto camera. The main sensor supports apertures from f/1.48 to f/4.0, while the telephoto camera offers 4x optical and up to 8x optical-quality zoom. The phone also gets an 18MP Center Stage front camera with automatic framing and support for switching between portrait and landscape orientations.
In terms of battery, the iPhone 18 Pro supports faster wired charging, reaching up to 50% charge in around 15 minutes with a compatible power adapter. Apple also highlights improved battery efficiency, while keeping the larger 45-hour video playback figure exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
