Design, Display

Like most budget phones, the Vivo Y01 has an all-plastic design. The 3D curved back with textured stripes contributes to the design aesthetics. Furthermore, the phone is lightweight, weighing only 178 grams, and has a thickness of 8.28 mm. It is available in two color options: Elegant Black and Sapphire Blue.

Over on the front, the Y01 sports an HD+ 6.51-inch IPS LCD screen. You will also find a waterdrop-style notch that houses the selfie camera. Because of the phone's budget nature, there's no high refresh rate or touch sampling rate here. Yet, the display supports an Eye Protection mode to filter out harmful blue light.

Performance

Inside, the Vivo Y01 packs an Helio P35 chipset. It is an entry-level octa-core chipset with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.35 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. Despite being comparable to the Helio G35, the chipset lacks MediaTek's HyperEngine gaming feature which ensures that the touch inputs are reliable and accurate. The phone comes with 32GB of internal storage and either 2GB or 3GB of RAM. You can expand the storage capacity up to 1TB via an SD card. In terms of software, the phone comes pre-installed with Funtouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11 Go Edition.
