Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is shaping up to bring flagship-like features to the mid-range segment!

Qualcomm has officially launched its all-new 2026 mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, bringing several flagship-level features to the mid-range segment. Some of the notable features include 120 FPS gaming, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and up to 100x zoom. So, in this article, I’ll cover everything you need to know about the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, including its features and specifications.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Overview:
CPU
Talking about the CPU of the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, it now uses a new Kryo CPU configuration with 4 performance cores running up to 2.6 GHz and 4 efficiency cores at up to 2.0 GHz.
If we compare that to the older Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, the difference seems like this
| Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 |
| Performance cores | 4x up to 2.6 GHz | 1x Cortex-A720 @ 2.3 GHz |
| Big cores | N/A | 3x Cortex-A720 @ 2.2 GHz |
| Efficiency cores | 4x up to 2.0 GHz | 4x Cortex-A520 @ 1.8 GHz |
| Process node | 4nm | 4nm |
In real-world use, this translates to snappier app launches, smoother multitasking, and better sustained performance when running demanding apps over longer periods.

Gaming Performance: 120 FPS, First in This Tier
This is where the 6 Gen 5 makes its biggest jump from its predecessor. We get 21% faster GPU performance than the older generation. For the first time in the Snapdragon 6 series, the 6 Gen 5 brings 120 FPS gaming support for games like Honor of Kings (shared by Qualcomm), which is also backed by Qualcomm's Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, which keeps the frame rate consistent while also managing proper power consumption, helping maintain more stable frame rates and improved thermal efficiency during extended gaming sessions.
Adding more on gaming, the chipset also includes Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Qualcomm FPS 3.0, which together improve image clarity at high frame rates and stabilize performance over long sessions.
For the GPU, the chipset features an Adreno GPU, which supports HDR gaming, Vulkan 1.3, and OpenGL ES 3.2.

Camera: 200 MP Support, Night Vision, and up to 100x Zoom
In terms of camera capabilities, the Qualcomm Spectra ISP on the 6 Gen 5 supports up to 200 MP single-camera sensors and dual 12-bit ISPs. For video, you can record up to 4K HDR recording at 30 FPS and 720p slow-motion at 240 FPS.
Two camera features stand out on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5:
- Night Vision 3.0: It improves low-light photo and video quality as it pulls more light shots in dim environments, which results in a cleaner image.
- 100x zoom support: Qualcomm has also introduced support for AI-powered zoom up to 100x for the first time in the Snapdragon 6 series.
Other features include Hardware-based Multi-Frame Noise Reduction and AI-based Night Vision, which handle image processing on-chip, keeping things fast and power-efficient.
Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and Dual-Frequency GPS
Connectivity is another major upgrade on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
The 6 Gen 5 ships with Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) support, hitting peak speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps over channels up to 320 MHz wide. For everyday use, this means users can expect faster downloads, lower streaming latency, and more stable connections even in crowded environments.
Bluetooth 6.0 with Channel Sounding is another first for this series. First, let's know what Channel Sounding is. Channel Sounding lets your phone precisely locate Bluetooth devices like earbuds or speakers, so you can track where you left them. You also get Qualcomm XPAN, which lets audio seamlessly hand off between Bluetooth- and Wi-Fi-connected devices without interruption.
For navigation, the chip supports dual-frequency GNSS (L1/L5), including NavIC, a meaningful addition for Indian users who benefit from the regional satellite system for more accurate positioning in urban areas.
On the cellular side, the chipset supports 5G sub-6 GHz connectivity, delivering downlink speeds of up to 2.8 Gbps.
Display, Memory, and Charging
The 6 Gen 5 supports FHD+ displays up to 144 Hz, delivering smoother animations, gaming, and scrolling performance. Memory support goes up to 16 GB LPDDR5, with UFS 3.1 storage. For charging, it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 for fast charging, and the chip supports USB Type-C 2.0 standards.
