Meta has rolled out the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which improve on their previous model now with better battery life, a sharper camera, and a few style tweaks. Design and fit

The Meta Gen 2 keeps the familiar Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner frames but adds seasonal colors like Cosmic Blue and Music Violet. It weighs around 52 grams and is also IPX4 rated against splashes.

Some reviewers like Tom’s guide are already noting that the blue shade “is awfully charming” and the frames feel surprisingly light despite all the tech packed inside. According to various first impressions, the fit is comfortable for hours, “though the plastic frame can feel a bit stiff when sliding them on.”

Camera and battery

The often controversial camera gets its biggest upgrade yet: still 12MP for photos, but now supporting 3K video at 30 fps, along with options for 60 fps or smaller file sizes at lower resolutions. Battery life now jumps to 8 hours of mixed use, with a quick 50% charge in 20 minutes, and a full charge in just over an hour.

Performance and Meta AI

Meta AI handles voice commands like from taking photos to live translation. It pairs with both Android and iOS devices through the Meta AI app. But it has been stretched enough that the AI can sometimes lag, but overall, it manages day-to-day requests well. Conversation Focus and live translation are also now expanded to German and Portuguese.

Audio and connectivity

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 does not have any spectacular audio compared to standard dedicated earbuds or anything like that, but it does feature open-ear speakers, which, according to many, can deliver pretty clear audio. You also get five microphones in this guy that can enable features like real-time captions or translations. Meanwhile, connectivity is handled through the Meta AI app.
