Redmi finally solved the biggest trade-off in gaming phones

Xiaomi has officially launched yet another gaming smartphone, the Redmi K90 Max, in China. It is positioned between the standard Redmi K90 and the flagship Redmi K90 Pro Max. The device highlights a built-in active cooling fan that we saw on the K90 Pro Max. So yeah, in this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the Redmi K90 Max, including its specs, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.
Redmi K90 Max Overview:
Display and Design
Beginning with the display, the Redmi K90 Max has a 6.83-inch flat 1.5K AMOLED panel with 12-bit color depth to offer vibrant visuals, and a fast 165Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth gameplay. For brightness, the screen can reach up to 3500 nits of local peak brightness, making it ideal to use in a bright environment and a dedicated eye protection setting for gaming. For security, it comes with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is more reliable than the optical sensor.

In terms of design, the Redmi K90 Max features an aluminum frame with a glass-fiber plastic back or silicone polymer, depending on the variant you go for, giving it a minimalist industrial look. However, its standout design element is the large, horizontal camera island housing an 18.1mm physical fan with a secondary air outlet vent under the camera module.
Additionally, the phone has an IP66, IP68, and IP69 rating for dust-tight and water resistance, which is rare for smartphones with an internal fan. It is available in different color options: Shadow Black, Sky Blue, and Space Silver.

As said above, the fan measures 18.1mm, which is larger compared to other standard gaming phones. It uses a vertical air intake with forward-leaning blades to push airflow more efficiently. The phone also has a massive 6,000mm2 vapor chamber to distribute heat away from the CPU to avoid thermal throttling.

Xiaomi claims that the system can reduce internal temperature by up to 10 degrees in approximately 100 seconds. You can also adjust the fan in three different modes, where the noise is said to remain as low as 32dB.

Camera and Battery
Because the Redmi K90 Max is designed for gaming and focuses on performance, Xiaomi has kept the camera setup rather simple here. Still, it has a dual camera setup, where you get a 1/1.55-inch 50MP main sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide lens on the back. And for the front, it features a 20MP camera inside a punch hole cutout.

For the battery, the Redmi K90 packs a huge 8,550mAh battery paired with 100W fast charging, so that you can enjoy longer gaming sessions without worrying about the exhausting battery. It can last up to two days for normal usage, and for flexibility, the phone also supports 22.5W reverse wired and wireless charging.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Redmi K90 Max is powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, which is paired with a dedicated Xiaomi D2 graphics chip to offer a high-performance gaming experience across a wide range of titles. The phone is configured with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 of internal storage, as one would expect from a performance-oriented gaming phone.

On the software side, the Redmi K90 Max runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, where you can get 4 years of major upgrades and 6 years of security upgrades, making the phone ideal for the long run.
