Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Redmi Watch 6 in China alongside the Redmi K90 series. The Redmi Watch 6 is an upgraded successor to the Redmi Watch 5, which brings a thinner profile, a new button design, and minor upgrades in display and brightness. Now, let’s jump into this article.

Redmi Watch 6 Overview

Display and Design

Starting with the display, the Redmi Watch 6 features a 2.07-inch AMOLED panel with 432 × 514 pixels resolution, which gives you 324 PPI pixel density. The device also has a relatively high screen-to-body ratio at 82% with 2mm ultra-narrow bezels on all four sides. But the real upgrade here is the peak brightness—it now hits 2000 nits, up from 1500 nits in the previous generation. Xiaomi also upgraded the IC/EL light-emitting materials which are supposed to help with better indoor visibility. Similarly, the display runs at 60Hz and supports Always-On Display (AOD).

Diesign

Now, coming to design, Xiaomi has seriously slimmed down this watch. The thickness drops from 11.3mm in the Redmi Watch 5 to just 9.9mm. The body uses aerospace-grade aluminum alloy that Xiaomi claims offers 20% higher structural strength and 40% greater wear resistance.

In addition, the Redmi Watch 6 now features a dual-button interaction system. There’s the standard stainless steel crown for navigation, but Xiaomi added a new side sub-key beside the crown that supports custom shortcuts. You can single-press it for the Control Center, long-press for the Quick Menu, and triple-press for emergency contact.

The watch comes with TPU quick-release straps by default, but you can grab an optional Kona leather magnetic strap separately. It’s available in three colors: Lunar Silver, Classic Black, and Misty Blue.

Software and Smart Features

The Redmi Watch 6 supports Bluetooth 5.4 and runs on the latest HyperOS 3. There’s Xiaomi Super Island that gives you real-time notifications for calendar events, deliveries, and alerts in a dynamic interface. You can also control smart home appliances and even vehicles—stuff like navigation, AC, seat adjustment, and music.

The watch supports 13 mainstream third-party apps and 10 mini-games including NetEase Cloud Music and Ximalaya. You get customizable watch faces, including floating portrait dials (though portrait dials require HyperOS). For payments, there’s NFC for transit and access cards, voice assistant support, and remote camera control. Everything syncs through the Xiaomi Sports Health app.

Health and Fitness Tracking

The Redmi Watch 6 packs over 150 sports modes and tracks metrics like step frequency, stride length, and movement trajectory. For health monitoring, you get all-day heart rate tracking, blood oxygen (SpO₂) monitoring, sleep tracking, stress monitoring, women’s health management, and guided breathing exercises.

The watch has 5ATM water resistance, and you can also share your health data with family and friends. The sensor suite includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, SpO₂ sensor, ambient light sensor, and geomagnetic sensor.

Battery Life and Haptics

The watch packs a 550mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims lasts up to 24 days with basic usage, 12 days with typical mixed usage, and 7 days with Always-On Display enabled.  Similarly for haptics, there’s a linear motor with over 20 refined vibration modes for notifications, alarms, and health alerts.
