AMD just had their keynote at CES 2026, where they announced and launched a bunch of new exciting products, including the Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU, which is a higher-binned version of the most loved and popular 9800X3D gaming CPU. So, yeah, in this article, I will discuss everything that you need to know about the Ryzen 7 9850X3D gaming CPU, including its price and specs.
AMD Ryzen 9000 Series Overview:
AMD Ryzen 9000 Series

As we know, AMD launched its 9000 series in mid-2024, featuring its latest Zen 5 architecture, built on 4nm process technology. This CPU uses AM5 sockets and supports USB 4.0 and PCIe 5.0 for graphics and storage.
At CES 2026, they just announced the release of the successor to AMD’s most loved processor, i.e., the
Ryzen 7 9850X3D
As we know, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has been AMD's most famous and successful processor in recent years, as it brought game-boosting 3D V-Cache technology that layers in high-speed cache to enable the fastest frame rates possible with the GPU you use.

The all-new AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D is simply a higher-clocked variant of the 9800X3D that aims to deliver even better gaming performance or wants to simply surpass the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

What's the actual difference between Ryzen 7 9850X3D vs Ryzen 7 9800X3D
We don't have complete information about the new AMD Ryzen 9850X3D, but so far as we know, the main difference between these CPUs is core clock speed. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D maxes out at 5.6 GHz, whereas the Ryzen 7 9850X3D tops at 5.6 GHz. Fun fact: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 98450X3D both use the same chip at heart, so it's possible you could overclock a particularly good unit of Ryzen 7 9800X3D to match the performance level of the 9850X3D. But said that it is just a theory to be discussed.
Both the CPUs share a similar AM5 socket with 8 Zen 5 cores and 16 threads with 32MB of L3 cache, supplemented by a 64MB last-level cache (LLC). These caches also help boost performance in some productivity tasks, but mostly while gaming.
Talking more about the technicalities, the increase in clock speed alone can result in a performance increase of around 8% over the 9800X3D in the best-case scenarios, making it the fastest gaming CPU in AMD’s lineup. But if we see Ryzen 9950X3D, with its 16-core, it hits 5.7 GHz, but it does so on the CCD that lacks the extra L3 cache, while the 3D V-cache CCD hovers around 5.5 GHz. As a result, the new 9850X3D should be able to match or at least exceed the 9950X3D in frequency-bound scenarios.
What's the conclusion..
Talking about the conclusion, the performance gains from this new chip aren’t especially impressive. AMD’s own numbers suggest a 3–6% bump in gaming performance, depending on the title, with productivity workloads seeing around a 5% improvement. But there may be a bit more room to play with overclocking, thanks to the higher bin, but even then, it’s best to keep expectations in check.
AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D Price in Nepal and Availability
AMD hasn’t announced anything regarding the pricing for the 9850X3D yet, but if we see 9800X3D at $480 and the 9900X3D and 9950X3D at $600 and $700, respectively, the 9850X3D will likely land in the $500–$600 range. Pricing it higher wouldn’t make sense within AMD’s lineup, especially since the 9800X3D will remain available at its current price.
This chpis will be available to purchase from Q1 2026.
