Sajha Yatayat is introducing an AI-powered control room in Nepal to monitor bus locations, speeds, passenger counts, harassment, and driver behavior in real time.

Sajha Yatayat is going smart! The public bus operator is bringing an AI-powered control room into operation from the Nepali New Year 2083, marking a big upgrade in how public transport is managed.
Real-time monitoring
Sajha says the CCTV cameras and GPS systems installed in its buses have already been connected to the new control room. Once operational, the system will allow officials to monitor activities taking place both inside and outside the buses in real time.
This means the control room will be able to track where each bus is, how fast it is moving, and whether the required distance between two buses is being maintained. It will also help identify if two buses are stopping at the same stop, if a bus is remaining parked for too long, or if any activity goes against company rules.
Passenger and safety tracking
Beyond route and speed monitoring, the system is also expected to track how many passengers are seated and how many are standing inside a bus. Likewise, Sajha says the AI setup will also help detect harassment, unusual behavior, and other suspicious activities, allowing the control room to respond more quickly when necessary.
Unsafe driving alerts
According to Sajha, the control room will instantly receive alerts if a driver exceeds the speed limit, smokes while driving, falls asleep, or shows any abnormal behavior. In such situations, staff stationed in the control room will be able to immediately warn or instruct the driver.

Built by Slash Plus
The technology behind Sajha Yatayat’s new control room has been developed by Slash Plus. Besides such smart transport-related solutions, Slash Plus also offers other tech-focused services, including real-time GPS tracking and fleet management through GPS Sewa, and a digital signage solution.
Expected impact
Sajha Yatayat believes the new control room will make public transport safer, improve punctuality, and help buses reach stops on time. The company also expects the system to make drivers and staff more disciplined, improve transparency in revenue, and ultimately strengthen Sajha Yatayat’s financial condition.
