Samsung’s next budget smartphone, the Galaxy A08, appears to be getting closer to its official launch. The phone has now surfaced on the Google Play Console, revealing several key details, including its processor, RAM, display resolution, and Android version. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Galaxy A08 so far.

      Key Highlights

      • Samsung Galaxy A08 has appeared on the Google Play Console.
      • It could feature the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset with up to 8GB RAM.
      • The phone is listed with a 720 x 1600-pixel display.
      • It may pack a nearly 6,000mAh battery.
      • The Galaxy A08 could retain a similar design to the Galaxy A07.

      Samsung Galaxy A08 Overview

      Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy A08 appears to follow a familiar design approach. The leaked listing shows a phone with a pill-shaped camera module on the back, similar to the Galaxy A07. Samsung could also offer the phone in a white color option, although the complete color lineup is yet to be revealed.

On the front, the Galaxy A08 is listed with a 720 x 1600-pixel display. Samsung has not revealed the screen size or refresh rate yet, but the resolution suggests that the phone will remain positioned as an entry-level offering.

For comparison, the Galaxy A07 also featured an HD+ resolution, so Samsung does not appear to be making a major jump in display resolution with the new model.

      Performance and Software

The Galaxy A08 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. The 6nm octa-core processor features two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores, paired with an ARM Mali-G57 GPU running at 1068MHz.

The phone is also listed with 8.0–8.1GB of RAM, which points toward an 8GB RAM configuration. Whether Samsung will offer an 8GB variant across all markets remains to be seen.

In terms of software, the Galaxy A08 is currently listed with Android 17 Beta (SDK 37). However, this does not necessarily mean the phone will launch with the beta software. Samsung is expected to use its latest One UI software on top of Android when the phone officially arrives.

The Helio G99 is also expected to deliver around 403,000 points in AnTuTu v10, which would put the Galaxy A08 in a similar performance category to other affordable 4G smartphones using the same chipset.

      Battery and Camera

Battery life could be one of the Galaxy A08’s highlights. Earlier certification information pointed toward a 5,830mAh rated battery, which could translate to a typical capacity of around 6,000mAh.

If Samsung sticks with this capacity, the Galaxy A08 could offer a noticeable improvement in endurance over the Galaxy A07, which features a 5,000mAh battery.

The camera setup, meanwhile, remains largely unknown. The leaked design shows a pill-shaped rear camera housing, but Samsung has yet to reveal the sensors or their specifications. We’ll have to wait for more leaks or the official launch for details about the primary and selfie cameras.

Samsung Galaxy A08 Launch and Availability

Samsung has not announced the Galaxy A08 yet, but its appearance on the Google Play Console suggests that the launch could be getting closer. The phone has also previously passed FCC certification, adding to the signs that Samsung is preparing it for release.

The Galaxy A07 was available in both 4G and 5G versions, so Samsung could eventually introduce a Galaxy A08 5G as well. However, there is no solid information about a 5G model at the moment.

Pricing and availability are also still under wraps. More details about the Galaxy A08 should emerge as Samsung gets closer to its official announcement.
