The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 witnessed dozens of gadgets. The South Korean giant, Samsung also unveiled a tablet at the event. Dubbed the Galaxy Tab Active 5, the tab arrives with a military-grade rugged body for strength and durability. Rugged Body

The key USP of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 is its rugged body. Weighing 433 grams, the MIL-STD-810H-certified tablet comes with an inbox protective cover, making it durable against a drop from 12 meters. Likewise, you get an IP68 rating against dust and water protection. Plus there is an S Pen bundled with this tab, which also secures an IP68 rating.

Upfront, there is an 8-inch TFT LCD panel with WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Performance

Under the hood, the rugged tablet houses an Exynos 1380 processor. This homegrown chip is based on a 5nm architecture and features four Cortex-A78 (@2.4 GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (@2.0 GHz) cores. Similarly, the Mali G68 MP5 GPU is there for the graphics. As for the software, it boots on the latest One UI 6.0 based on Android 14.

Memory-wise, it is available in two configurations— 6/128GB and 8/256GB. Users can also expand the storage by up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Optics

Talking of the cameras, the tablet sports a single camera on the rear side. It is headlined by a 13MP f/1.9 main shooter. Upfront, there is a 5MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

Another articulating factor here is its user-replaceable 5,050mAh battery. It can also be used in ‘No Battery Mode’ which straightly draws power from the power adapter. Wireless connectivity includes 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Other features include Samsung Knox with Knox Vault, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, Dolby Atmos powered speaker, and so on.
