      A while ago, TCL dropped a tablet with an NxtPaper display; now they have also announced a smartphone, the NxtPaper 70 Pro, at CES 2026.       The TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro features a 6.9-inch Full HD+ display based on NxtPaper 4.0 technology. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches up to 900 nits of peak brightness. Plus, TCL says the panel includes seven eye-care features, including natural light mode, zero flicker, blue light purification, and anti-glare viewing. And there’s also a dedicated NxtPaper key on the side. This lets you switch between Color Paper, Ink Paper, and Max Ink display modes depending on how you’re using the phone.

      Performance and Software

      The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, which is a pretty tested chipset, but also quite old at this point. It does let's you handle everyday tasks, though. Similarly, TCL pairs it with up to 8GB of RAM and offers 256GB and 512GB storage options. There’s also a microSD card slot if you need extra space. 

      But the more notable part is the software. The NxtPaper 70 Pro ships with Android 16 straight out of the box. The device supports TCL’s T-Pen stylus. Through this, users get access to features like AI handwriting input, off-screen memos, and AI-generated covers.

      Camera and Battery

      On the back, the phone includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, while also featuring an 8MP secondary camera. For video recording, it tops out at 4K at 30fps. By the way, the front camera is a 32MP unit.

      Other than that, the phone packs a 5,200mAh battery with 33W fast charging. TCL claims standby time of up to 26 days when using Max Ink mode.

      The TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and dual speakers. And it also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
