Tecno Phantom V Flip brings a circular 1.32 inches cover screen

Following the release of Tecno's foldable phone, the Phantom V Fold, the company is now here with its first flip handset: the Tecno Phantom V Flip, a premium mid-range flip phone. It introduces significant changes in design, processor, and camera specs when compared to its Fold cousins. Design and Display

There is a change in the structure of the cover display for the handset this time. While other foldables typically have cameras separate from the display, Tecno has opted for a circular cover display surrounded by a camera ring. Moreover, this outer display is quite small; only 1.32 inches AMOLED, but it's colorful and clear with a 466 x 466 pixels resolution, 800 nits brightness, and a pixel density of 352 PPI. Inside the smartphone, the screen is much bigger – 6.90 inches LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling, and HDR10 support. This screen offers a resolution of 1080x2640 pixels and a pixel density of 413 PPI. As for the build, the phone features vegan leather on the cover and plastic on the front when opened. The steel hinge and aluminum frame it comes with, contribute to the handset's capability of handling frequent flips. When unfolded, the device measures 171.7 mm in height and is under 6.9 mm thick. Tecno offers the phone in two colors – Iconic Black and Mystic Dawn.

Performance and Camera

The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset manufactured using the 6nm process. In terms of GPU, we are getting 9x ARM Mali G77 MC9. As expected, the handset runs on HiOs 13.5, based on Android 13, and is equipped with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS3.1 storage. For the camera, there comes a dual rear setup: a combination of a primary 64MP primary sensor with a 1/1.73" size and f/1.7 aperture, paired with a 13MP ultrawide sensor having f/2.2 aperture and autofocus. For selfies, there's a 32MP camera with Tetracell technology and autofocus, housed within the punch hole on the display.

It's worth mentioning that the Phantom V Flip is equipped with two battery cells: a smaller one with 1165 mAh and a larger one with 2735 mAh. The company markets them adding up to a capacity of 4000 mAh. The phone supports 45W wired charging, which can charge the battery from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes.
