UGREEN has always been known for its chargers and power banks, but what if told you it just launched something quite different—an external GPU enclosure. Yes, they have just launched the new UGREEN LinkStation Graphics Card Expansion Dock, which is a chunky eGPU solution that lets you connect a full-size desktop graphics card to your laptop, handheld console, or mini PC. Now, let's jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the UGREEN LinkStation eGPU Dock, including its specifications, features, and pricing details.
UGREEN LinkStation eGPU Dock Overview
Design and Build

The LinkStation comes in a semi-open aluminium enclosure that's quite large and weighs 5.08kg. That's chunky by any standard, but it's built to accommodate full-size graphics cards and the power supply. The top cover is removable, while UGREEN's also puts some effort into the packaging—it comes in stylish retail packaging, which you may even find premium.
The enclosure supports graphics cards up to 370mm in length, which means most modern GPUs from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel are entirely compatible.
Connectivity Options
The UGREEN LinkStation offers two connectivity options: Oculink (64Gbps) and USB4 (40Gbps). Now, if you're not familiar with Oculink, it's a PCIe-based connection standard that offers faster and more stable bandwidth compared to Thunderbolt-style solutions.
USB4, on the other hand, offers wider laptop compatibility since more devices support it. It also provides 100W reverse charging to your laptop. For comparison, most Thunderbolt 3 eGPU enclosures are limited to 40Gbps bandwidth, which, if you didn't know, creates bottlenecks with high-end GPUs.

Power Supply and Internal Hardware
UGREEN's packed in an 850W ATX 3.1 Gold-rated PSU, which is more than enough to power most graphics cards. For context, NVIDIA's RTX 5090 has a TDP of 575W, and the RTX 4090 sits at 450W. That 850W power supply will certainly give you plenty of headroom.
Inside, you get a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, which is the standard interface for modern graphics cards. The enclosure comes with a 0.8m USB4 cable and a 0.5m Oculink cable in the box.
Performance
Now, let's get into the performance. UGREEN's shared some benchmark numbers using the Port Royal stress test, and i think these are quite interesting. One of them was an RTX 5090 running on a desktop PC scored 34,508 points, while the same GPU connected via Oculink to a laptop scored 30,164 points. That's about 87% of the desktop performance, which in my opinion, is actually quite impressive for an external GPU setup.
Keep in mind that direct PCIe on a desktop will always be the fastest option—there's no getting around that. But for laptop users, I see this is a solid compromise. The performance hit is much smaller with Oculink compared to older Thunderbolt 3 eGPU solutions, which struggled to deliver even 70-75% of desktop performance.
