Vivo S50 Pro Mini Launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 6,500mAh Battery

Vivo launched the S50 Pro Mini alongside the regular S50, and this one's the actual flagship of the lineup. It's a compact phone, hence the "Mini" in the name, but Vivo's somehow managed to cram in the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip and the same massive 6,500mAh battery you'd find in the larger S50. The phone also has a different camera module than the regular S50. Now, let's jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the latest Vivo S50 Pro Mini, including its specifications, and when we might see it in Nepal.

Vivo S50 Pro Mini Overview

Design and Display

The Pro Mini takes a slightly different design approach compared to the regular S50. The rear cameras are horizontally stacked on a raised module, which looks similar to what we've seen on the iPhone Air. You're still getting that flat rear glass panel with aerospace-grade metal frame sides, and the whole thing measures 8.1mm thick and weighs just 192 grams. Vivo's also gone all-in on protection here as the Pro Mini gets both IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. 

The display is a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution (2,640 × 1,216 pixels). It's got a 120Hz refresh rate, 4,320Hz PWM dimming for eye protection, and can hit up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, which is also same as the regular S50. There's also an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner baked into the display. The Pro Mini comes in Confession White, Inspiration Purple, and Deep Space Black.

Performance

The performance is where the Pro Mini separates itself from the regular S50. Here, you're getting Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The regular S50, by comparison, uses last year's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, hence there's a noticeable performance gap between the two.

The Pro Mini also gets WiFi 7 instead of WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, stereo dual speakers, and an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback. It runs Android 16 with Vivo's OriginOS 6 skin on top.

Battery and Charging

Both the Pro Mini and the regular S50 pack the same 6,500mAh battery. The difference is that the Pro Mini supports 90W wired fast charging and 40W wireless fast charging, while the regular S50 only gets wired charging. 

Camera System

The Pro Mini's camera setup is nearly identical to the regular S50. You've got a 50MP main sensor with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, OIS, and f/1.57 aperture, a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS (f/2.65), and an 8MP ultra-wide with a 110-degree field of view and autofocus (f/2.2). Up front, there's a 50MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
