Xiaomi launches Mix Fold 4 in ultra-lightweight design and features SD 8 Gen 3

The past two weeks have witnessed the launch of two popular flagship foldable smartphones: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Honor's Magic V3. While Samsung continues to dominate the foldable market, Honor is making massive waves with its lightweight and ultra-thin design. Xiaomi has now introduced the Mix Fold 4, aiming to compete directly with these models. In this article, we will discuss everything about the latest Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, including its expected price in Nepal, specifications, and more.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Overview

Design and Build

Xiaomi has designed the Mix Fold 4 to be exceptionally thin and light. Weighing just 226 grams, it is claimed to be lighter than the Honor's Magic V3 and every other foldable on the market. The device measures 4.59mm when unfolded and 9.47mm when folded. The Mix Fold 4 features a curved frame design, with the sides tapering into an aluminum frame.  This is the first Xiaomi foldable with an IPX8 rating, making it water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The internal structure features T800H high-strength carbon fiber, for better impact resistance.

Display

The Mix Fold 4 comes with two displays. The cover display is a 6.56-inch LTPO OLED with FHD+ resolution, a 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The main display is a 7.98-inch Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) panel, also with FHD+ resolution and a 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. Both displays can achieve up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.

Performance

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.The Mix Fold 4 runs on Xiaomi HyperOS, based on Android 14. The Mix Fold 4 packs a 5,100mAh battery. It supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Camera

Xiaomi has equipped the Mix Fold 4 with a Leica quad-camera setup. The main sensor is a 50MP lens with an f/1.7 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). There is also a 50MP 2x portrait sensor, a 10MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The device includes a 20MP front-facing camera on each display.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 comes in three colors: black, white, and blue. Pricing in China starts at CNY 8,999 ($1,237) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. When it arrives in Nepal, we expect the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 to cost no less than NPR 2 lakhs rupees.
