Xiaomi officially launches a budget-friendly tracker that supports both iOS and Android, giving tough competition to AirTags.

Alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi has officially launched its tracker on February 28 (ahead of MWC 2026). This Xiaomi Tag is ready to compete head-on with the available Air Tag or Moto Tag with features like a lightweight design (only 10g), IP67 (dust- and water-resistant), and a replaceable battery with over a year of life. In this article, we’ll delve into the specs, features, and expected price of the Xiaomi Tag in Nepal.
Xiaomi Tag Overview
Build and Design
The tracker is made of white plastic with a metallic ring that makes it easy to attach to your wallet, key ring, and more (unlike other tags on the market). It weighs only 10 g and is 7.2 mm slim, making it easy to carry and slip into your bag.
Xiaomi Tag has been tested and certified as splash, water, and dust-resistant, with an IP67 rating. So you can be assured that your device is safe even in harsh conditions.

Battery and Connectivity
It has a removable CR2032 button cell, with over a year of battery life. Meaning, it works well in the long run. The tracking device is connected via Bluetooth (BLE v5.4), meaning it stays connected with your phone without draining the battery. It also has NFC Tap for “Lost Mode” (Apple Find My only), making it easier for the user to find the device. (The only catch is that this should be done by the person who found your tag.

Speaker
Unlike AirTag, which uses an Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, Xiaomi Tag uses a loudspeaker (Built-in piezoelectric buzzer). In this, when you get close to where the Tag is on your map, you can press a button on your phone to make it “beep”. This sound is nice and loud, so you can hear it even if your keys are hidden under a pile of clothes or tucked away in a drawer.

Other Features
This is the feature that makes it stand out from competitors. Xiaomi Tag is compatible with both Android (running Android 9) and iPhones (iPhone and iPad running iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5), and yes, that's right. Unlike AirTags, which are only used with iOS, it works with both Apple's Find My and Google’s Find My Device networks, so you can track your belongings whether you are an iPhone orAndroid user.
