Initially, Samsung was the only player launching a flip phone, such as the Samsung Z Flip 7. But with the growing demand, companies like Ai+, which usually sell budget phones, entered the market with their first flip phone, the Nova Flip 5G. Ai+ also launched the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Ultra alongside this flip phone. This phone has a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X SoC, a dual-camera setup, and a 4325mAh battery. This article covers details such as the expected price of the Ai+ Nova Flip 5G in Nepal, specifications, and availability.

Ai+ Nova Flip 5G Overview

Design and Build

Starting off, the Ai+ Nova Flip 5G comes in a compact clamshell foldable design that features a dual display. This guy is around 7.2mm thick when you use it as a normal phone, but if you flip it, its thickness becomes double. It weighs around 193 grams, making it an ultra-lightweight device that you can carry with ease.

The Ai+ Nova Flip 5G has an aluminum frame and a glass back that give it a premium feel when you hold it in your hand. The hinge of this phone opens 180 degrees, and this phone also stays partially open at various angles. As this phone is IP64-rated, it is durable for long-term use.

Display

The main display of this phone features a large 6.9-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, delivering sharper visuals and text while watching videos. The animations and scrolling on this phone are decent enough, thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate.

Also, 2160 PWM dimming in Ai+ Nova Flip 5G protects your eyes when watching long-form video content or scrolling for long hours. Moreover, outdoor and indoor visibility will no longer be an issue with its 1200-nit brightness.

Moving on to the cover display, this phone has a 3-inch OLED panel that you can use for notifications, quick interaction, and camera previews. The outer panel also has a decent brightness, which is enough for indoor and outdoor use.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the Ai+ Nova Flip 5G features the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X SoC built on a 4nm process. Since this chip is designed for a dual-screen phone, you should get balanced performance for your usual work and casual gaming. Moreover, this phone also has VC cooling that prevents the thermal throttling of the processor during multitasking and gaming. It is also paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. If you feel the storage is not enough, you can use a microSD card to expand it as needed.

Software-wise, Ai+ Nova Flip 5G runs on Android-based nxtQOS, Ai+'s in-house OS, designed with a focus on user privacy and intelligent features. Though Ai+ does not mention the updates, we expect at least one major OS update and two years of security updates.

Camera and Battery

Honestly, I find that cameras are the major trade-off in Ai+ Nova Flip 5G. It has just a 50MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor. This phone lacks the telephoto lens we recently saw on phones like the Honor 400 Pro, which is quite disappointing. We are expecting an ultrawide sensor and a telephoto lens on this phone. On the front, you get a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Talking about the battery, it has a pack of only 4325mAh, which I feel is not sufficient for a phone with a dual screen. Though Ai+ claims this battery can support all-day use on a single charge, we will find out the details when we actually use it. Further, it also supports 33W fast charging.
