Amazon has experimented with brick-and-mortar stores multiple times. The latest one being a hair salon in London. Yes, you read that right. Amazon Salon will be integrating technologies like AR (Augmented Reality) into hairstyle services.

Amazon Salon Overview:

The Amazon Salon is set over two floors on Brushfield Street in London’s Spitalfields. It expands over more than 1,500 sq. ft of physical space.

Customers at the salon will be able to experiment with different hair colors without even trying them on physically. As mentioned earlier, this will use augmented reality and virtual colors. Similarly, each styling station has a Fire tablet and a dedicated creative area for users to capture their new look.

There is a screen between any two styling stations. Similarly, customers will have to wear face coverings. Amazon says that every piece of equipment will be sanitized once used.

Moreover, the Amazon Salon will also feature new point-and-learn technology. Here, products will be on display on the shelf. Users can simply point at the desired product and retrieve key information on their screen. The key information includes the product’s brand and educational videos. Users can even scan the QR code of the items and have them delivered to their homes.

Elena Lavagni and her team head the hair care and styling services at the Amazon Salon. Elena is the owner of the Neville Hair & Beauty Salon which has been in operation for the past 20 years. With the team, the salon will be offering a full range of hairdressing services for both adults and children.

As of now, it is only open for Amazon employees. The company will soon announce bookings for the general public as well. Amazon says that there is no plan to open such salons in other locations for now.
