During Apple's March 2026 event, the Apple Studio Display officially received a major internal spec bump, alongside the launch of the high-end Studio Display XDR. Design and Display

In terms of design, the Apple Studio Display (2026) comes with the identical premium look as the previous version. It keeps the same slim, all-aluminum build and familiar stand options: standard tilt, height-adjustable, or VESA mount. 

The screen hasn’t changed either. It’s still the same 27-inch 5K Retina panel at 218 PPI. You get the same 600 nits of brightness and P3 wide color. While some were hoping for a higher refresh rate, this model stays at 60Hz, leaving the 120Hz upgrade exclusively for the pricier XDR version.

Connectivity

One of the upgrades in the 2026 Apple Studio Display is hidden in the ports. Apple has upgraded the main connection from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 5, making the device three times faster than before. Because of this, now you can link up to four Studio Displays together using just one cable; it's a huge win for clean desk setups. 

Additionally, it still delivers 96W of power, providing fast-charging for your MacBook Pro while you work.

Camera and Audio

Apple has finally fixed the grainy webcam. While it’s still a 12MP Center Stage camera, the 2026 model delivers much better low-light performance and clarity than the original. Moreover, it has a new Desk View support feature that simultaneously shows your face and atop-down view of your physical workspace. It also comes with a virtual edge light (ring light) feature that brightens your face using the edges of the display during calls.

On the audio side, the speakers got a serious boost with new tweeters and redesigned woofers delivering 30% deeper bass. It still supports the Spatial Audio and 'studio-quality' mics we loved in the original, but it now sounds and looks noticeably more 'Pro.'
