Asus 8z launched with 5.9-inch AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 888 SoC

Asus has launched a new smartphone in India, called the Asus 8z. It's essentially the Zenfone 8, which was released in Europe in May 2021. However, the brand renamed it as the Asus 8z for the Indian market. In this article, we will look into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of Asus 8z in Nepal.

Asus 8z Overview:

Design and Display

Asus 8z is a compact device with a 5.9-inch sAMOLED display. The screen boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, 1100 nits of peak brightness, and HDR 10+ certification. Moreover, it’s protected by a Gorilla Glass Victus and features an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.  In terms of design, the back has a matte finish with a rectangular camera cutout and curved edges. Asus 8z is available comes in two color options—Horizon Silver and Obsidian Black.

Performance

Under the hood, the 8z packs a flagship Snapdragon 888 processor. This is coupled with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It lacks a dedicated microSD card slot, so you won’t be able to expand the storage.  The device still boots on Android 11 based ZenUI skin. However, the brand has confirmed that the device will receive Android 12 via a FOTA update. Fueling the device is a 4000mAh battery that charges via a 30W fast charging. 

Camera

Moving on, the device has a dual-camera setup on the back. It includes a 64MP Sony IMX686 main sensor with 4-axis OIS and a 12MP Sony IMX363 ultrawide lens.  The rear camera is equipped with 3-axis EIS, motion tracking, up to 4K UHD 120fps slow-motion video recording, and up to 8K video shooting. For selfies, there’s a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor on a punch-hole cutout.

Furthermore, the smartphone comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G as the connectivity option. Speaking of 5G, it supports a total of 11 5G bands.

Asus 8z Price in Nepal and Availability

The 8z is priced in India at INR 42,999 for the sole 8/128GB variant. It’s available for purchase via Flipkart from March 7. We expect the price of Asus 8z in Nepal to be 73,000 if and when it launches in Nepal.
