Cryptocurrency, also called only “crypto” is a form of digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security and operates on decentralised networks based on blockchain technology. Unlike traditional currencies, cryptocurrencies are not controlled by any central authority, making them resistant to government interference and manipulation.
The first crypto, Bitcoin, was introduced in 2009 by an anonymous individual or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Since then, thousands of cryptocurrencies have emerged, including Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and so on.
Crypto is used for a variety of purposes from investment to digital payments. However, it is commonly utilised for the former. Cryptocurrencies have sparked debates over their potential to revolutionise finance and concerns about regulation and security. Likewise, in case of Nepal, it is completely banned.
