DJI just packed a 37MP sensor and 4K@240fps slow-motion into a design that’s still small enough to fit in your pocket.

DJI has launched the Osmo Pocket 4, its latest vlogging camera after the huge success of its predecessor, the Osmo Pocket 3. It debuted with major upgrades compared to the current handheld gimbal cameras available in the market. The Osmo Pocket 4 comes with a high-resolution 37MP sensor, built-in storage, offers 4K recording at 240 fps for slow-motion videos, and more. In this article, I will discuss everything related to the DJI Osmo Pocket 4, its specs, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Overview:
Camera and Videos
Starting with the optics, the Osmo Pocket 4 features a 1-inch CMOS sensor paired with an f/2.0 aperture. Here, you get a high-resolution 37MP (7680 x 4320 pixels) lens for still photos in a 16:9 aspect ratio, replacing the 9.4MP sensor found on the Pocket 3 camera. While its predecessor used to struggle with heavy contrast, you will not find that problem with the new Pocket 4, thanks to its 14 stops of dynamic range for cleaner details in shadows and highlights.

For video, as said above, it supports 4K at up to 240 fps, offering smooth slow motion footage, and comes with 10-bit D-Log recording, which brings professional-level video quality even in low-light environments. Talking about normal videos, you can record up to 4K resolution at up to 60 fps.
Design and Display
Lookwise, the Osmo Pocket 4 is quite similar to the Pocket 3, however, in terms of its body, the new model is a bit taller. DJI has changed its color from black to grey, and now they have covered the SD card slot on the side, too. The Pocket 4 offers a wider grip area in the front with textured spacing, making it easier to hold. Even if you feel there is no significant change in the design, you can see the difference in the back. The new Osmo Pocket 4 has 4 magnetic contact points where you can attach accessories like fill lights or more, according to your needs.
In terms of display, it features a 2-inch OLED touchscreen with 556 x 314px resolution and up to 1000 nits of peak brightness. This means the screen is bright enough to use even under harsh sunlight, so you won’t have a problem shooting outside.

Battery and Storage
Moving on to the battery, it has a 1,545mAh battery, which, according to DJI, can record up to 240 minutes of 1080@24 fps recording. It is paired with 65W of charging that can recharge the device from 0 to 80% in just 18 minutes, and takes 32 minutes for a full top-up.

Another upgrade you get on the Osmo Pocket 4 is that it offers 107GB UFS 3.1 of built-in storage, which was not available on the Pocket 3. It is said to allow you to save approx 220 minutes of 4K/60fps video. Additionally, it supports Wi-Fi 6 for fast file transfer.
Other features
The Osmo Pocket 4 features two buttons in the front. One button is used for zoom, where you can get 2x lossless zoom at 4K resolution and a new 4x zoom mode for 1080p recording. And the other button is customisable and works by default as a shutter button for photos.
The camera also offers 3-axis stabilization and ActiveTrack 7.0, which supports subject tracking at 4x zoom, meaning you don’t have to worry about your movements and will still get smooth and stable videos. Moreover, the Osmo Pocket 4 has a new 5D analog joystick to control the gimbal and zooming easily.
