Garmin has officially launched the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro, expanding its flagship lineup of outdoor-focused smartwatches. The new generation brings several upgrades, including brighter displays, improved mapping, new training features, and longer battery life of up to 57 days on the Fenix 9 Pro Solar. 

The smartwatches also come with new build options and inReach connectivity on select models, making the latest Fenix lineup more capable for outdoor adventures. Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Garmin Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro retain the rugged look the series is known for, with a round display, physical buttons, and a 10 ATM water-resistance rating. Both models are available in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm sizes, with the Fenix 9 getting a titanium bezel and rear plate. Meanwhile, the Fenix 9 Pro takes things a step further with a full titanium case, giving it a more premium and durable build.

Moving on to the display, the Fenix 9 series is available with AMOLED panels, while the Pro lineup also offers solar-charging models with a memory-in-pixel display. The AMOLED models are now considerably brighter, with the Fenix 9 Pro reaching up to 3,000 nits. The 51mm Pro also gets a larger 1.5-inch AMOLED display, making it the biggest display ever offered on a Fenix watch. The Fenix 9 offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode on the 51mm model, while the Fenix 9 Pro reaches up to 31 days with its largest AMOLED display. The solar-charging Pro models can extend this further, offering up to 57 days under Garmin’s specified solar conditions.

On the connectivity side, select Fenix 9 Pro models feature built-in inReach connectivity with LTE and satellite support. With an active plan, users can send messages, share their location, and send SOS alerts directly from the watch without a smartphone. LTE connectivity also enables voice calls and voice messages, while satellite connectivity supports two-way text messaging, location sharing, weather updates, and SOS features. Garmin has made inReach connectivity available across all three Pro sizes.
