2025 looks like the year of AI, with savage competition between the latest models. Just a few weeks ago, we were debating between ChatGPT and DeepSeek, and now there’s a new player in town already! It’s Grok 3 we are talking about here. Let’s break it down and take a look at this new AI model and what makes it stand out.
Grok 3 Overview
What is Grok 3?
Grok 3, the latest creation from Elon Musk’s company xAI, is a highly advanced AI model with some serious reasoning power. It was originally anticipated for release in 2024 but after some delay, the model is finally here. Grok 3 runs on a massive data center in Memphis, home to around 200,000 GPUs.
Musk has called this model “scary smart,” making a bold claim that it outperforms anything else that’s out there. That might be a tough pill to swallow but we’ll get to the numbers soon. But before that, let’s hear more about Grok 3’s development from the CEO.

Musk’s vision
During a recent conference, Musk didn’t hold back. According to him, Grok 3’s problem-solving abilities go beyond the obvious answers. It’s trained on a vast amount of synthetic data, striving for logical consistency. And if it gets the wrong data it will reflect on that and remove it. I mean, woah! He even mentioned that this AI has been trained using 10 times the computing power of its predecessor, Grok 2. That’s a lot of brainpower packed into one model!
Is it really the best?
The CEO claims that Grok 3 outshines the competition across key benchmarks, including math, science, and coding. It’s said to perform better than Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s GPT-4, Anthropic’s Claude 3.5, and DeepSeek’s V3 but not completely against models like OpenAI’s GPT-3 mini or DeepSeek R1.
Nonetheless, Grok 3 comes with some exciting new features such as “deep search” which comes with the ability to code online games and a “big brain” mode to reason through more complex problems.

Grok 3 Specifications
As confirmed by industry-standard benchmarks, Grok 3 boasts 20% higher accuracy than its predecessor. Plus, it’s 30% more energy-efficient. When compared to models like ChatGPT 01 pro and DeepSeek R1, it offers 25% faster processing speeds and 15% better accuracy. Oh, and did we mention it’s 10 times more powerful than Grok 2? That’s a whole lot of upgrades packed into this new model.
There’s more!
Grok 3 isn’t just one model instead it’s a whole suite of options. There’s Grok 3 for speed, Grok 3 Think Mode for multi-step reasoning, Grok 3 Big Brain Mode for deeper insights, and Grok 3 DeepSearch for real-time web browsing and source verification. Depending on your needs, you can switch between modes for faster responses or more detailed solutions.
Let’s compare Grok 3 to DeepSeek R1
Unlike typical models like DeepSeek which spit out answers immediately, Grok 3 takes its time to break down problems step-by-step before delivering a solution. This method of reasoning is what makes it so powerful for tasks that require careful thinking, like math, coding, and problem-solving in the real world.
To test whether this model is actually the best of all as Musk claimed, I compared it with the latest and greatest DeepSeek R1 model and the results were…. well, let’s see.
Logical Reasoning and Math
I asked both models: “Prove that the sum of two even numbers is always even.”
I think Grok 3’s reasoning was much clearer and easier to follow. So for me, it was the winner in this category.
Coding and Problem-Solving
When it comes to coding, Grok 3 won the show once again. It explained complex coding concepts in a more approachable way, making it easier for someone like me who struggles to understand the code.
Creativity and Writing Skills
Lastly, I tested creativity with the prompt, “Summarize the plot of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in 3 sentences.”
While Grok 3 gave a crisp and better-summarized answer, I felt that DeepSeek did a better job of explaining the details.
The bottom line
In conclusion, Grok 3 is a powerhouse, especially when it comes to reasoning and problem-solving. While its competitors are no less, this new AI model is showing some serious promise.
