Honor Watch X5 Play Overview

Design and Display

Starting off with the design, the HONOR Watch X5 Play keeps things fairly simple with a rectangular body and a metal-textured frame. It weighs around 26 grams without the strap and measures 10.5mm in thickness. So, you should not find it too heavy or bulky on your wrist during regular use. The watch also gets an IP68 rating, which is useful if you plan to wear it throughout the day. You do not have to worry much about dust or occasional water exposure during regular use.

Up front, you get a large 2.01-inch screen with a 410 x 502-pixel resolution. That means checking notifications or workout details should not be a task since you get more room to read and interact with things. HONOR has also kept the bezels at just 2.0mm, giving the watch a 77.5% screen-to-body ratio.

Additionally, the 60Hz refresh rate should make scrolling through menus and moving between different screens feel smoother. And with 550 nits of brightness, the outdoor experience should also be decent enough for everyday use.

Performance and App Compatibility

Under the hood, the HONOR Watch X5 Play runs on an RTOS, which is commonly used in smartwatches with a focus on efficiency and longer battery life. So, rather than offering a full smartwatch experience like Wear OS, the X5 Play focuses more on essential features and everyday usability.

In terms of compatibility, the watch works with both Android and iOS devices, so you do not necessarily need an HONOR phone to use it. It directly connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and works with the HONOR Health app for setup, customization, health data, and workout tracking.

Health and Fitness Features

Now, coming to the health and fitness side, the HONOR Watch X5 Play comes with a range of features to keep track of your daily activity and workouts. It supports 109 sports modes, covering activities like walking, running, cycling, and other indoor and outdoor exercises.

For health monitoring, the watch offers 24-hour heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO₂), stress tracking, and sleep monitoring. Having these features available throughout the day can give you a better idea of your activity and general health patterns without having to manually check everything.

Battery and Connectivity

In terms of battery, the HONOR Watch X5 Play packs a 450mAh battery, which is quite large for a smartwatch in this segment. HONOR claims up to 18 days of battery life on a single charge. Besides, the watch uses Bluetooth 6.0 to pair with your smartphone and sync data through the HONOR Health app. It also supports Bluetooth calling, so you can make and receive calls from your wrist when your phone is connected.
