Huawei FreeBuds 7 Launched With Adaptive ANC and 100dB Call Noise Cancellation!

Huawei has launched the FreeBuds 7 in China alongside its latest flagship devices. The new wireless earbuds bring adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC), lossless audio, AI-powered call noise cancellation, and several smart features.

With the FreeBuds 7, Huawei is focusing on improving noise cancellation and call quality while retaining a lightweight semi-in-ear design. In this article, I will cover everything about the Huawei FreeBuds 7, including its specifications, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Huawei FreeBuds 7 Overview

Design and Comfort

The Huawei FreeBuds 7 features the company’s Yuezhang Star Ring design and uses a semi-in-ear form factor. Each earbud weighs just 4.3 grams, making them lightweight for extended use. Huawei says the earbuds are 12% lighter and 15% smaller than the previous generation, while the charging case is 25% smaller and 17% lighter.

Huawei also says it analyzed data from more than 10,000 human ears to improve the fit. The company has reduced the average wearing pressure by 19% and moved the earbuds’ center of gravity 17% inward toward the sound outlet for improved stability.

The earbuds also carry an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. They are available in Sunlight Orange, Midsummer Purple, Moonlight White, and Starry Black.

Adaptive ANC and Call Quality

The FreeBuds 7 features Huawei’s third-generation Audio AI chip with dual DSPs and an NPU. The chip can sample surrounding noise up to 400,000 times per second with a processing latency as low as 8 microseconds.

Huawei claims the earbuds offer 2.3 times higher average noise cancellation depth and 275% higher maximum noise cancellation bandwidth compared to the previous generation. The adaptive ANC system adjusts noise cancellation based on the fit of the earbuds and the surrounding environment.

For calls, the FreeBuds 7 uses three microphones along with bone-conduction pickup and AI-based noise reduction. Huawei claims up to 100dB two-way call noise cancellation, while wind noise resistance works at speeds of up to 8m/s.

Audio

For audio, the FreeBuds 7 features Huawei’s Yuezhang Audio Quality system with a custom high-fidelity full-range driver and Turbo acoustic architecture.

The earbuds support a frequency response of 14Hz–48kHz and 96kHz/24-bit lossless audio, with wireless transmission speeds of up to 4.6Mbps. Huawei also claims that its third-generation Audio AI chip reduces the noise floor by 20%.

The earbuds also support Quadruple Adaptive EQ, which adjusts the sound based on factors such as volume, wearing condition, surroundings, and individual ear canal characteristics. Spatial Audio with head tracking is also supported across compatible devices and content platforms.

AI and Smart Features

The FreeBuds 7 brings several AI-powered features, including an AI agent, Smart Audio Notifications, and Intelligent Message Summarization. These features can provide useful notifications for services such as ride-hailing, flight boarding, and food delivery.

The earbuds can also record phone calls and audio from connected devices. When placed in the charging case, they can record surrounding voices for meetings, lectures, and interviews. AI tools can then transcribe, translate, and summarize the recordings.

Each earbud packs a 48mAh battery, while the charging case has a 460mAh battery. Battery life varies depending on whether sound quality or connection stability is prioritized.

With ANC enabled, the earbuds can provide up to 4.5 hours of music playback when prioritizing sound quality, or up to 5 hours when prioritizing connection stability. With ANC turned off, these figures increase to 7 and 8.5 hours, respectively.

Including the charging case, total music playback reaches up to 42 hours with ANC off under the stable-connection priority mode. The case supports USB Type-C and wireless charging.
