Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 2 Overview

      Display and Design

      undefined

The ThinkPad L16 Gen 2 goes bigger with a 16-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS display using a 16:10 aspect ratio. You get 400 nits brightness, and the panel covers  45% NTSC color gamut, just as the E14 G7, running at 60Hz with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and anti-glare coating.

The chassis measures 357.2 x 253.4 x 10.96 ~ 19.67 mm and weighs quite light at  1.79 kg. The design follows typical ThinkPad styling with a black aluminum body. It comes with a backlit keyboard, physical TrackPoint nub, and a large trackpad measuring 67.6 x 115 mm. There's a 720p webcam with privacy shutter and a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello.

      Performance

The Nepal variant uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor with 16 cores (6 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 2 LP E-cores). P-cores run at 2.0 GHz base and boost up to 5.1 GHz, while E-cores start at 1.5 GHz and reach 4.4 GHz. You get 24MB Intel Smart Cache and a 28W TDP. Its graphics come from Intel Arc 140T integrated GPU, which is a step up from basic Intel Graphics. The Arc 140T delivers up to 74 TOPS of AI performance. Combined with the NPU's 13 TOPS from Intel AI Boost, the total system AI performance reaches 96 TOPS. That's useful for AI features in Windows 11 and productivity apps.

Similarly, for memory, you get a 16GB DDR5-5600 RAM running in dual-channel configuration, and storage is a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD using the 2242 form factor. Moreover, both RAM and storage are upgradable, with support for up to 64GB RAM via SO-DIMM slots.

      Connectivity and Ports

      undefined

Fortunately, the port selection provided in the L16 G2 is also quite extensive. You get three USB-A ports: one USB 2.0, one USB 3.2 Gen 1, and one USB 3.2 Gen 1 with Always On charging. There are also two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports supporting USB4 at 40 Gbps, USB PD 3.1 for charging, and DisplayPort 2.1 for external monitors. You also get HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm combo jack, and a full-size RJ45 Ethernet port.

Other than that, you get typical wireless connectivity, which includes Wi-Fi 6 dual-band and Bluetooth 5.3. The Ethernet port supports Gigabit speeds and Wake-on-LAN. Security features include a TPM 2.0 chip, a fingerprint reader, a camera privacy shutter, and a Kensington Nano Security Slot.

      Audio and Battery

Lenovo has provided dual 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. There's a dual-microphone array with 360-degree far-field pickup using Elevoc Voice technology. And finally, the device features a 57Wh battery that supports Rapid Charge, which gets you up to 80% in one hour using the 65W USB-C adapter.

Should you buy the Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 2 in Nepal?

The ThinkPad L16 Gen 2 has very good build quality, a three-year warranty, and a bright display. Performance-wise, it can also handle normal office work, video calls, and content creation well.  The battery is also really good; it should last through a full workday. But you're paying a premium for the ThinkPad brand here. The 16GB RAM and 512GB storage are just adequate at this price, and the display with only 45% NTSC coverage just doens't make sense at all.

If you need a 16-inch business laptop with good build quality and comprehensive warranty support, the L16 Gen 2 is not a bad option. The keyboard, trackpad, and port selection are excellent for office work. But if you're not tied to the ThinkPad ecosystem, you can find better value elsewhere.
