Oppo is preparing to launch two new premium mid-range phones—X8s and X8s+. These phones sit below the flagship X8 Ultra but still offer high-end specifications, including OLED displays, fast chipsets, high-resolution cameras, and long software support. This article explains their specs, features, differences, and expected price in Nepal.
Oppo X8s and X8s+ Overview
Design and Display
The Oppo X8s features a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, while the X8s+ has a slightly larger 6.59-inch panel. Both displays support 1 billion colors, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+. The X8s comes in a slim 7.7mm body, while the X8s+ is slightly thicker at 8mm. Both devices have IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. The front and back panels are made of glass, with an aluminum frame on the sides.
Dimensity 9400+ chipset
Both phones use the new MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, built on a 3nm process. It includes one Cortex-X925 core at 3.63GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 3.3GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4GHz. This chipset supports high performance for gaming, multitasking, and AI processing. Graphics are handled by the Immortalis-G925 GPU.
Software and updates
Out of the box, the phones run on Android 15 with ColorOS 15. Oppo promises up to 5 major Android updates, putting them on par with flagship devices in terms of software support. Both the X8s and X8s+ offer up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage and up to 16GB of RAM.
There is no microSD card slot on either model.
Triple 50MP rear cameras
On the rear, both phones have three 50MP cameras:
- A main 50MP wide sensor (1/1.56″, OIS)
- A 50MP ultrawide sensor (120˚, 1/2.75″)
-
A 50MP telephoto lens
The telephoto is where they differ. The X8s has a 3.5x zoom lens, while the X8s+ features a 3x zoom. Both setups offer optical image stabilization, multi-directional PDAF, and Hasselblad color calibration. Other features include a color spectrum sensor, LED flash, HDR, and panorama support.
Both models come with a 32MP front camera with support for 4K video at up to 60fps. The rear cameras also shoot 4K at 30/60fps, support 10-bit video, Dolby Vision, and gyro-EIS. These features ensure good photo and video performance even on the non-flagship models.
Connectivity and sensors
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS with dual-band support, NFC, infrared port, and USB-C with OTG. For security, there is an under-display fingerprint sensor. The phones also include Oppo’s Circle to Search feature.
