Oura Ring 5 announced with a slimmer design and blood pressure monitoring!

Oura has officially introduced the Oura Ring 5 as the successor to the Ring 4, focusing on improved health and wellness tracking. The new ring comes with a significantly slim design, upgraded sensors, improved battery efficiency, and a blood pressure signal feature. In this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the Oura Ring 5, including its specifications, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

Oura Ring 5 Overview

Design and Build

Starting with the highlighting change with the Oura Ring 5 is its slimmer design, offering a lighter feel that is more comfortable to wear throughout the day and even while sleeping. It weighs around 2 to 2.69g and measures over 6.09mm in width and 2.28mm thick, which is said to be 40% smaller than its predecessor, the Oura Ring 4. 

Likewise, the ring still features a titanium construction and retains its premium look. It comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, allowing it to withstand immersion up to 100 meters. The Oura Ring 5 is available in sizes 6 to 13 and multiple color options, including Silver, Brushed Silver, Black, and Stealth, alongside two new finishes: Gold in a lighter tone and Deep Rose in a copper-tone rose gold. 

Sensor and Health Tracking

For sensors, the Oura Ring 5 features redesigned sensor domes with stronger LEDs to improve reading accuracy and signal quality. The company claims these changes will help the ring collect more accurate health data across different finger shapes and skin tones compared to the previous generation.

Additionally, as mentioned above, the ring now comes with the “Blood Pressure Signals” feature. It does not directly measure blood pressure like a traditional cuff, but instead analyzes overnight biometric data and looks for patterns that may indicate changes in blood pressure levels. Oura says it is designed to provide early health insights, although it should not be considered a replacement for medical-grade equipment.

Other than this, the Oura Ring 5 retains its core health tracking features, including sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen measurement, activity tracking, and nighttime breathing analysis to help users better understand their overall health and recovery.

Battery and Charging

Talking about the battery, the Oura Ring 5 offers a battery life of 6 to 9 days, depending on usage, on a single charge. For charging, the ring takes up to 80 min to fully charge using its dedicated charging dock. 
 

Moreover, Oura has also introduced a new portable charging case, which is sold separately. It works like a power bank for the ring that can provide up to around one month of backup charging, allowing users to recharge the ring multiple times while traveling. Users can simply place the ring inside the case to top it up on the go.

The Oura Ring 5 has been launched starting at USD 399 for the Silver and Black variants, while the premium finishes are priced at USD 499. However, there is no official information regarding its debut in the local market yet. If it does arrive, the Oura Ring 5 price in Nepal is expected to be around NPR 60,699 for the base model and NPR 75,899 for the premium variant.
