POCO’s latest launch may have been headlined by its new flagships, the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, but there’s another phone worth looking at. The new POCO X8 arrives as a more accessible option in the lineup and, interestingly, comes late to its own family, following the earlier debut of the POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max. It brings a mix of features that makes it an interesting addition to the X series, which has long focused on balancing performance, features, and price.

      Key Highlights

      • The POCO X8 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display with up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness.
      • It is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
      • The phone packs an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 67W wired and 22.5W reverse charging.
      • It also features a 50MP OIS main camera and extensive IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K protection.

In this article, I'll discuss everything you need to know about the POCO X8, including its specifications, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal.

      POCO X8 Overview

      Design and Display

The POCO X8 has a flat-frame design with rounded corners, giving it a modern and boxy appearance. The rear panel features a large, rounded-square camera module in the top-left corner, while the sides remain relatively flat for a clean look. Measuring 163.45 x 78.27 x 8.6mm and weighing 223 grams, it has a fairly large footprint in the hand. The phone comes in Black, White, and Orange color options.

      POCO X8 Design

The phone has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. POCO says the X8 has also passed a three-meter drop test and a two-meter water-resistance test lasting up to 72 hours under its specified testing conditions. It also supports an underwater camera mode.

On the front, the X8 gets a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels, delivering sharper and more detailed visuals. The panel also supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations, along with 12-bit color depth, DCI-P3, and HDR10+ for richer colors and better contrast.

      POCO X8 DISPLAY

The display reaches 3,500 nits for better visibility outdoors, while 3,840Hz PWM and DC dimming help reduce flicker for more comfortable viewing. Its 240Hz touch sampling makes touch input more responsive, with up to 3,200Hz in Game Turbo for quicker controls during gaming.

      Performance and Software

Powering the POCO X8 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, built on a 4nm process for improved efficiency and performance. Its octa-core setup combines four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz for demanding tasks with four Cortex-A55 cores at up to 1.8GHz for lighter workloads, helping balance performance and battery efficiency.

The phone comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The 128GB configuration uses UFS 2.2 storage, while the 256GB variants get faster UFS 3.1 storage.

On the software side, the POCO X8 runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. It also includes features such as Google Gemini, Circle to Search, AI Erase, AI image enhancement tools, and dual-video recording. Other additions include an IR blaster, NFC, stereo speakers, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

      Camera and Battery

For photography, the POCO X8 has a dual-camera setup on the back. It consists of a 50MP primary camera with OI, accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. The phone also has a 16MP selfie camera.

      POCO X8 CAMERA

The camera system supports features including underwater photography, dual-video recording, AI Glare Removal, AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, and AI Image Enhancement. Both the front and rear cameras can record video at up to 1080p at 30fps.

The bigger highlight here is the battery. The global POCO X8 packs an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with 13% silicon content. It supports 67W wired charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging.

      POCO X8 BATTERY

POCO claims the battery can retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles. The phone also supports USB Power Delivery 2.0 and 3.0.
