Design, Display
Starting off with the design, the Realme 9 brings a new “Ripple Holographic Design” that consists of 6 nano layers of films stacked on top of each other. This is complemented by “UV-nano Imprinting” which helps to create custom 3D ripple effects.
It is available in Sunburst Gold, Stargaze White, and Meteor Black color options. The phone is pretty lightweight and slim at 178 grams and 7.99-inch, respectively.
On the front is a 6.6-inch sAMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. It has a total of 10240-level of touch sampling rates, with the highest value being 360Hz. You also get a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front. The brightness on this thing can go up to 1000 nits and the screen also hosts an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics.
Performance
The device is powered by the new Snapdragon 680 4G chipset which was also present on the company’s own 9i. The company offers up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. Also, the phone comes pre-installed with the latest version of Realme’s custom skin, that is Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12 out of the box.
Cameras, Others
In terms of cameras, the Realme 9 is the world’s first phone to boast Samsung’s 108MP ISOCELL HM6 sensor. By default, this new camera sensor employs9-in-1 pixel binning to produce 12MP images. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, there is a 13MP camera sensor on the front.
The smartphone gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery. Similarly, you can charge the smartphone via a 33W adapter provided in the box. For audio, there’s a bottom-firing loudspeaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
