REDMAGIC 12 Pro Overview
Performance and Software
Starting off, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, built on a 2nm process. It comes with an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 5.0GHz and an Adreno GPU. This flagship chipset should handle demanding games, multitasking, and other heavy tasks without much trouble.

To further support the gaming experience, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro comes with a dedicated RedCore R5 gaming chip and a G1 display control chip for better gaming performance and smoother visuals. Here, REDMAGIC claims the 12 Pro can maintain an average of 60.91FPS while playing Wuthering Waves for 60 minutes, with a peak temperature of just 43°C. It also supports up to 185Hz gaming, along with AI frame generation, 2K super resolution, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing for smoother gameplay and improved visuals.

The phone also comes with the AquaCore Cooling System 3.0 to keep temperatures in check during long gaming sessions. It combines a dual-loop liquid cooling system, a large vapor chamber, Liquid Metal 4.0, and a 25,500RPM turbofan. The liquid cooling system also gets RGB lighting, which you can see through the transparent rear panel.

Memory-wise, you get up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage. On the software front, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro runs on REDMAGIC OS 12 based on Android 17. You also get Gemini integration, PC game emulation, and Steam access through the X-Gravity gaming center. Other gaming features include 520Hz shoulder triggers, an X-axis linear motor, and dedicated gaming optimizations.
Design and Display
Moving on to the design, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro features a transparent rear panel that lets you see some of its internal components. One of the highlights here is the visible dual-loop liquid cooling system with RGB lighting around the circular ring. You also get additional RGB lights on the cooling fan and shoulder triggers.

At the same time, the phone comes in “Subzero” (Transparent Silver) and “Nightfreeze” (Transparent Black) finishes. It has an 8.55mm thickness and weighs 223 grams. The phone also has an aluminum alloy frame and a Corning Gorilla Glass GG7i rear cover. For durability, it has IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Up front, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro sports a 6.85-inch BOE X11 AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 2688 × 1216 pixels. The display has a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, which should offer smoother scrolling, animations, and gameplay in supported games. It also comes with an instant touch sampling rate of 5,000Hz and an average touch sampling rate of 500Hz. This should make touch inputs more responsive, which can be helpful while playing fast-paced games where quick reactions matter.

In terms of brightness, the display offers up to 1,900 nits of global peak brightness and 5,000 nits of local peak brightness, making it easier to view content in different lighting conditions. You also get 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and Delta E less than 1 color accuracy for more accurate colors. It also supports HDR10 and HLG, SGS-certified eye protection, and an under-display selfie camera with slim 0.96mm bezels, giving you a more uninterrupted viewing experience.

Camera and Battery
In terms of optics, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro features a dual-camera setup at the back, consisting of a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The main camera uses an OV50J sensor with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size and an f/1.89 aperture. The OIS support should help reduce camera shake while taking photos and recording videos. Meanwhile, the ultra-wide camera is useful for capturing landscapes, buildings, and group photos where you want to fit more into a single frame.

For selfies and video calls, you get a 16MP front camera placed underneath the display. This keeps the front of the phone free from any camera cutout, which is especially useful when gaming or watching videos in full screen. However, being a gaming-focused phone, its camera setup is more about covering everyday photography needs than offering a versatile camera experience.
As for the battery, the REDMAGIC 12 Pro packs a massive 8,400mAh battery. This should provide enough backup for long gaming sessions, video streaming, and everyday use without having to look for a charger frequently. Likewise, it supports up to 80W wired and 80W wireless fast charging, so you can recharge the large battery without spending too much time plugged in.

Additionally, the phone supports both wired and wireless reverse charging, allowing you to use it to charge other compatible devices and accessories when needed. It also supports Charge Separation, which lets you power the phone directly while gaming instead of continuously charging the battery. This can help reduce battery heating during long gaming sessions.
